My bathroom is really cold first thing, before the central heating has really had a chance to warm the house up. I have Raynaud's disease (white finger) which is triggered as soon as I get out of bed into the cold air so I really needed a heater for the bathroom to keep me warm until I get dressed. I know portable electric heaters are not generally safe in bathrooms, but this one is advertised as OK for bathroom use. It has a drip guard, and my power point is outside the bathroom, so I thought it would be OK as long as I put it out of the way of any splashes. I was going to buy a cheap halogen heater but the reviews aren't very enthusiastic so I went for this fan heater, on the grounds that it was quiet and powerful and Delonghi is a reliable manufacturer. The heater arrived quickly and was smaller than I expected. It is reasonably attractive (for a heater!) and looks better than in the photo. It's almost silent on the low setting, and still quiet on the high setting even when it's oscillating. It warms up my very big bathroom (3m x 3m, open to the rafters with a skylight) in 5 minutes and my fingers don't go dead any more - quite important for when I'm trying to make breakfast without scalding myself. I'm very happy with its performance, and the fact that I don't have to run it for very long. I haven't used the timer yet but I've used similar timers before and can't envisage a problem. A remote control would have been brilliant, so I could have operated it from the bedroom, but that would have been the icing on the cake.

There are some mixed reviews on this item, some very negative, but I decided to take the risk and order one.

Quite frankly, I wished I hadn't. The only positive thing is the oscillating base - it does allow the heat to be distributed evenly around the room. However, the downside is the very noisy fan, even at the `whisper quiet' setting - there is hardly any discernible difference in the noise at all settings. The thermostat is not sensitive enough - when the room reaches the set temperature and the fan switches off it takes far too long for the thermostat to kick back in by which time the temperature has dropped several degrees. I found myself constantly adjusting the thermostat, using it as a manual on/off switch.

In addition to this, after just 3 or 4 usages the fan started to `chatter' which is clearly a fault and increased the noise even further.

Very disappointing. I am going to check what other fans are available with more positive reviews.

I was looking forward to using the timer function of this heater so that it could switch on early in the morning, heating the room so that it was comfortable when I got out of bed. But it was impossible to sleep through the amazing amount of noise it produced. It was so bad I had to return it.

My bathroom and kitchen never really get warm with the central heating alone. I chose to go for this heater as I needed one that was small enough to store away but was also OK to use in a bathroom.

This heater is quite attractive for a heater, it's compacter than it seems, and the handle and cord storage made finding a spot in the cupboard to store it. It's quiet at all three settings and heats my kitchen very quickly in the morning. I did knock it over by accident one morning in the bathroom and can report that the safety feature worked perfectly: the heater switched itself off automatically.

I'll be interested to see how the heater affects my electricity bill. The oscillating fan means that rooms heat up evenly and I didn't have it on for very long in any room, so I am expecting not much of an increase in the bill. The heater has kept my feet warm on some very cold mornings and evenings, so a few extra pounds on the bill is a fair price to pay!

I didn't like it. I ordered this heater, and I had to return it, because it's too noisy. In addition, It didn't heat too much...

This heater is described as 'large' but isn't particularly big and that is reflected in its ability to pump out heat. Despite a near 3kW rating it wasn't as powerful as I'd hoped and isn't as quiet as the marketing blurb suggests either. On gth eplus side it does have some useful features such as being able to oscilate and the 24 hour timer.

The second time I switched it on the motorised base started making funny grinding noises and the movement stopped!

The box this item came in was the manufacturers box and looked very well used and as if it had been opened many times before!

I suspect this item was not new and was a returned heater!

This is disgraceful that a new item should fail so soon!

The heat output on the first two settings is very poor - you can actually feel cold air on the edges of the air wave directed from the unit.

The third setting is very hot - which might be useful if the unit actually stayed on very long - which it doesn't on this setting as its internal safety mechanism turns it off frequently as it gets too hot. When this happens you have to unplug the unit and leave it for about 30 minutes or it will simply refuse to turn back on.

The internal carrying handle is absolutley awful - nothing more than a rectangular space at the top which it is impossible to get a firm grip with so it dangles precariously from your hand and eventually you will drop it, & it will break.

    Avoid.
