Reading the reviews on this site you'd think that this was a terrible waste of your money. I'm bemused, it's a lovely toaster. It looks great, the colour and the retroesque styling make the toaster really stand out, and believe it or not, it toasts what you put in it really well...we've not had any trouble with thick bread, nor bagels, which only just about fit into the toaster.

Some people are very hard to please obviously.

Looks very good but thats it. Not good if you want toast. Very slow does not toast very brown even on max setting. Then after two years one pair of slots has given up. very hard to clean as well. Off to the skip get another Tefal toaster not so good looking but worked well.

I bought this toaster and it took 10 mins to make a piece of toast. Had it replaced and result exactly the same as the first toaster. Returned that one as well. Very expensive and absolute garbage. Buyers beware!!!

We have been extremely disapointed with our DeLonghi toaster. Oh yes it looked lovely sitting on the kitchen worktop but soon showed it's limitations. We like reasonably thick slices of toast- the toaster didn't. It stopped popping up the toast after just a year of use, then began to need longer and longer to brown the bread. We have now had it 3 years and two slots have stopped working alltogether and the remaining two are very feeble. It will be going to the tip in the very near future. Style over function here I think.

This toaster does not like 'thick' slices of bread i.e. toastie. After a year one side of this toaster no longer works, you push down the handle to toast but it no longer stays down and pings straight back up. A very expensive two slice toaster. The only reason for giving this item 2 stars instead of 1? It looks smart in a modern kitchen sitting on the worktop but that is really all.

Bought this toaster even after reading a review that the toaster will not brown the toast,i liked the look of it so much i convinced myself that he was exagerating, well,"HE WASNT",and woe betide you if you need to toast bread thats come straight from the freezer. If de longhi had any shame they would recall and recompense everyone and have a long look at their quality control as this seems not to be a one of, or do they think its ok to release a toaster that does not toast.

I would just like to echo the sentiments of the other two reviewers. I bought this toaster a year ago, while I was very pleased with it at first, and it does look nice, it is now taking an inordinate length of time to do its thing. Also, it's not the easiest to keep clean. Grooves in the top between the slots are a haven for tiny crumbs. While I'm on the subject, the slots could be bigger as well, so you don't have to squish your slices in. But other than that, it's perfect!

i will not buy another delinghi again. I agree with the other reviews. Mine has stopped staying down when I press the lever to put the toast down..it just pops up again and now i am having to buy a new one after just 13 months! Its simply not good enough because I spent over £50 on it and you would expect that after very little use, it would last longer than just over 12 months!
