    5.0 out of 5 stars DeLonghi BCO255 coffee maker 20 Dec 2007
    Verified Purchase
I bought this unit based on the previous comments left on the amazon web site. I have been using it for around a month now and I am very pleased with its overall performance taking into account its price. I was originally looking at machines around 100-200, possibly in stainless but having looked at some of these in the shops, I was concerned at how poor quality the stainless steel actually was (thin as tin foil with nasty sharp edges). As I could neither afford nor justify buying a top end priced machine I decided that maybe I should avoid the mid priced stainless option go for an entry level priced machine instead. The DeLonghi BCO255 machine is mostly constructed of plastic but appears well made and designed. The controls are simple enough to use and the fittings are generally removable so that they can be kept clean. Both the filter and espresso makers are filled from the top and the coffee scoop stores neatly in the top as well. The machine is quite tall so you may find as I did that whilst it fits neatly under the kitchen wall cabinets I cannot open the lid fully without bringing it forward of the cupboard (a very minor point). The filter coffee maker uses paper filters and you only get two with the machine so buy some with the coffee maker. The espresso maker is acceptable but I do find that the green LED that tells you the steam/pressure is ready does go off rather quickly one you start using the pump. To be fair, once the machine is properly warmed up in accordance with the instructions (about 15 minutes) it only takes about a minute before the Pump is ready to deliver again. The milk frother works well and the nozzle is removable so that you can keep it clean. The kids love it as you can make frothy drinking chocolate as well as cappuccino. Overall, this machine is very good value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars This one was worth the three week wait..... 27 Sep 2007
After mulling over the choices I concluded first that (overall) DeLonghi clearly make the best Coffee/Espresso/Cappuchino makers - including some mouthwatering machines around the 500-1000 mark!! At first I waited, hoping that Amazon would reduce the price from 64.99 but decided to go ahead because this was the machine I really wanted.

Anyway, I received this slightly more affordable machine a couple of weeks ago and I cannot fault it.... Of course, like ALL machines they need treating with respect or they will break or something will go wrong. But this DeLonghi doesn't give me that concern. The frother could be a little more effective and the drip tray less fiddly but the coffee quality is the best.

This DeLonghi coffee maker has superceeded my expectations....and I would 100% recommend it to anyone reading this and considering getting one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great machine, grab it while you can. 3 Feb 2008

I had read the reviews and decided that this was what I was looking for,but it was out of stock. Got the email when it was available again and bought it quick. You should not be disappointed with this item, it is well finished for the price and makes excellent coffee each and every time. The design makes for easy cleaning with just a wipe usually, had it a month now and would really recommend it as the best machine for under 75.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great coffee maker 20 Aug 2008
Absolutely great. Makes coffee just as you would want it in a cafe. The milk frother is excellent. Gets milk really hot. Looks good too. Easy to use. The ideal way to make cappucinos. Can't recommend this machine enough.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good machine but with faulty water tank 29 Oct 2008
Makes reasonably good espresso. There are two small problems.

    1) As mentioned by other reviewers, the expresso water tank suffers from a serious design fault. If you take it out to refill it then, because of a fault with the valve at the bottom, a significant amount of water leaks out of the bottom of the machine onto the work surface. Contrary to what's been reported by another reviewer, this is NOT solved by ensuring that the tank is replaced 'properly'.

Once it's in place the water stops leaking. Therefore a solution to the problem is to fill it in-situ using a jug. Not really a show stopper.

    2) The plastic gasket that makes a seal between the expresso filter holder and the filter itself, is likely to need replacing over time (pretty standard with this type of machine). The problem is that the DeLonghi UK website doesn't list this among the available replacement parts and a 'google' didn't produce anything. If I were buying this machine again I'd give DeLonghi a call first to see if this part is likely to be available in the medium term.

I paid 39.99 for this machine and at that price I can live with the above.

4.0 out of 5 stars delonghi BCO 255 pumped combi coffee maker 11 April 2008
Purchased March 2008. Delighted with product - smart looking and both the filtered coffee maker and expresso sides are easy to use.
I decided on this coffee maker after reading amazon reviews.
I initially thought my expresso water tank was damaged as twice water leaked onto my worktop after using. However I simply had not re-inserted the tank firmly enough into the coffee maker. I now fill the water tank keeping it within the coffee maker and have had no further leaks.
I paid 74 and believe it money well spent. I would definitely recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb product all round 24 Dec 2008
I have had this coffee maker for a year now and have not been disappointed with my purchase at all.

The filter coffee side is pretty much the same as any other, the hot plate is powerfull enough to keep a full pot at a good temperature.

My favourite part is the expresso maker. This I use this everyday whether it's for an espresso, a latte or an americano. Delicious!

My supermarket always has some form of ground coffee on offer so it is low cost quality coffee unlike the cartridge type machines.

My only tiny gripe is the milk steamer. This tends to just heat the milk rather than froth it up like what you get in a coffee shop. Having said that it still makes a delicious latte.
