3.0 out of 5 stars pleasant surprise 1 July 2012

When I read the description of this book, I immediately pictured a bunch of cape wearing vampires fighting Buck Rogers, but I enjoyed it. Mr. Gamboe obviously has military knowledge and uses it to keep the reader interested in the story. The only thing that I wish was different was the origins. To me, the vampire and human connection should have been revealed earlier. Otherwise, it made for good poolside reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars New twist on Vampires 6 Jun 2012

I usually don't read Vampire stories. 14 Days 'Til Dawn is a new plot for the Vampire genre in that the action takes place on a moon in the Alpha Centauri System. While reading I kept wondering how they came to be there and where the Vampires came from. This is explained later in the book. The formation of the Vampires is a little lame, but I guess they had to appear from somewhere. I thought the book was well written. Accepting the premises that the author lays out I only had one main issue. While I'm unclear on how many generations the humans have been on the moon, a major plot line deals with finding survival pods from the ship that brought them to the Alpha Centauri System. It seems to me that this would have been 1) a major priority for everyone, Vampires and humans. 2) They would have been discovered as people explore the moon and the population expands.

If you like light science fiction or Vampire stories, this is a book that is enjoyable to read.
