2.0 out of 5 stars Not for SSIS novices 8 Nov. 2013
By Jim Henry - Published on

I thought it would be a logical sequence of articles that would take me from the novice level to more informed. I didn't see a high-level to more detailed level sequence that would have explained the terminology used, before using it. If I had more experience in SSIS I probably would like it. Maybe changing the explanation of its contents to warn the novice that they should be familiar with a list of terms used.(and the list)

3.0 out of 5 stars All over the place 6 Jan. 2014

There are helpful examples in this book, but the level of complexity varies and its difficult to find specific topics. This is not a step-by-step training book. It is more a conglomeration of various situations the author has worked through, than anything else.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not What I expected 18 Feb. 2014

Call me old fashioned but I was expecting a book and not a series of links on the Internet. I must have not read the description completely.

I've read many articles by Jason Strate and have even referenced him in college papers. It's nice to have his 31 Days of SSIS blog all in one place for reference.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good book to have nearby 10 July 2013

I must say, in the interests of full disclosure, that I know the author personally. He eats, breathes, sleeps, etc., SQL Server. He knows what he is talking about. He is a Microsoft MVP and is a terrific resource for any information regarding SQL Server in general, not just for Integration Services.

I would pick up this book. I got my copy long ago, when they were handing it out for free, and I use it all of the time. If my copy were an actual book, it would be pretty dog-eared by now, but it's an eBook.

For the price, this book is a must-have. I still might order this, because sometimes it's good to have a real book when you don't have access to all of your stuff electronically.
