The racing scenes in this book are as tense and exciting as being at the race course, and are perfectly balanced by a story of family life in 1950's to 1960's Southern England. I think this book will appeal to racing and non racing lovers alike as a touching tale of a mans' life and passion.
Really enjoyed this book. I'm sure most racing fans would enjoy it. I particularly enjoyed the passages about the 2002 Festival and Likeabutterfly as it was my first Festival and I too, like the author, backed her antepost. A great read.
