Product Description

Product Description
Bridging the gap between the original film and its sequel to be released in 2007, 28 Days Later: The Aftermath tells the story of one of the last bands of un-infected humans in London, desperately trying to survive in the midst of the Rage virus. 28 Days Later was merely the beginning of the end. Two idealistic scientists unwittingly developing the deadliest virus the world has ever known! A family making desperate choices as they struggle to survive the Infection's initial outbreak! A lone gunslinging survivor battling the Infected in a decimated London! Four original tales chronicling the greatest horror humanity has ever faced come together in a bloody conclusion as terrifying as the Rage Virus itself. Will humanity's salvation come in the form of a rescue, or an over-zealous American army determined to eliminate anything left alive? Written by horror master Steve Niles (creator of the classic 30 Days of Night) and illustrated by three of the most terrifyingly talented illustrators working in comics today, 28 Days Later: The Aftermath begins before the hit movie-and ends with a shocking revelation that leads into the events of the sequel, 28 Weeks Later.

About the Author
STEVE NILES is one of the writers responsible for bringing horror comics back to prominence. His 30 DAYS OF NIGHT sparked renewed interest in the horror genre, and it is being developed as a major motion due to hit theatres in 2007. Niles got his start in the industry when he formed his own publishing company called Arcane Comix, where he published, edited and adapted several comics and anthologies for Eclipse Comics. His adaptations include works by Clive Barker, Richard Matheson and Harlan Ellison. Steve resides in Los Angeles in his bachelor pad with one cat. While there's no crawlspace, there is a questionable closet in one corner and no one is quite sure what is hidden in there...but we have an idea.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting addition to the films, 16 May 2007
By A. Phillips (West Midlands, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I'm a big fan of '28 Days Later' and I bought this a couple of hours after seeing '28 Weeks Later' as it sounded like some interesting background material. Firstly, I should point out that it's a graphic novel, so if you're not a fan of the genre and/or the films then I would look elsewhere.

The book is divided into four short stories, charting the progress of the outbreak seen in the first film. Each one is entertaining enough in its own right, but none of them have enough time to go into much character development or anything of that nature. I also felt that they didn't add much to the story that we don't already know from the films, so don't expect any of the questions raised in the films to be answered. Also note that none of the characters featured in either of the films are in this book, which I don't think is a problem, but that might be a disappointment to some readers.

The blurb on the back of the book suggests that some sort of shock revelation will be revealed, but I didn't find any surprises at all. I also found that the tension and horror experienced in the films is almost completely absent as a graphic novel simply can't be very scarey, and doesn't capture the aggression of the Infected.

In short, the style of the artwork and the stories are good and in the spirit of the films, but the book isn't very long and doesn't contain anything shocking. That said, if you're a fan you'll probably like it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it., 2 Aug 2008
I guess if you enjoyed 28 weeks later more than 28 days later you might find this an interesting book. There is very little to recommend this book of short stories (there are not even many zombies!) but I did enjoy one story about a sniper, which is why I gave the book 2 stars
