5.0 out of 5 stars Perhaps over-ambitious - but still brilliant 26 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
With the input of Bill Nelson on this 2nd Skids album, it was always going to be very different from their debut album "Scared to Dance". The "boys-own" militaristic anthems are still in place but the additional keyboards and production created a much more sophisticated and layered sound. Indeed, one of the main criticisms levelled at "Days in Europa" was that it "over-reached" itself. However, this is no bad thing considering some of the lack-lustre music that was emerging at the end of the 70s during the death throes of punk. Tracks such as "Charade", "Masquerade" and "Dulce et Decorum et" are post-punk classics and its also good to see that there has been no "cop out" with the album art-work, as the original and controversial "1936 Berln Games" cover has been used on this re-issue.

5.0 out of 5 stars Demand A New Decree 14 April 2004
Format:Audio CD
Full of immediate hooks and sing-along melodies, 'Days in Europa' is also chock-a-block with strange phased sounds, reverb-soaked backing tracks, synth drums, and strange lyrical references. This is one of the strangest rock albums, and one of the most appealing at the same time. Listening to 'The Olympian' my fists pump the air. 'Peaceful Times' has reduced me to tears. I'm trying to think of another album like that, but there isn't one.
Jobson is now a director, and his debut film '16 Years of Alcohol' is brilliant.
Buy this album, listen to this album, and run through the streets shouting for joy.

5.0 out of 5 stars The heady days of the Late 70`s 29 July 2001
Format:Audio CD
The Skid`s finest moment captured at last on CD.Fantastic from beginning to end,and a joy to relive those rebellious and thought changing anthems that Jobson/Adamson provided.Masquerade and Dulce et decorum est will always be my favourites,as they typifed what it was to be 16 and breaking free,If only there was the same spirit now.Treat yourself to a dose of nostalgia and great, superb lyrical music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unsurpassed 22 Jan 2005
Format:Audio CD
Desert Island Discs - Ten choices - Forget it! Pack this album, a years supply of Glenmorangie and to hell with rescue. This is an album that deserves to be heard by non-Skids fans alike. Powerfully anthemic it consumes the listner, taking them foward into battle, throwing them into the fray then guiding them out flushed with victory. Forget the lyrics - each track will gather you up, overload all of your senses and leave you twice the person you were. Sign up today - You will not regret your time in Europa.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent stuff 28 July 2007
Format:Audio CD
Songs like Animation, Masquerade, The Olympian and Dulce Et Decorum Est are particularly good. Working For The Yankee Dollar is awesome and Peaceful Times (the album's original closer recorded by playing Animation backwards with new words and synth blips) is enough to reduce me (like another reviewer) to tears. Top album and well worth getting.
