New to our range of magnifying lamps, at last a superior quality product, with very heavy weighted base, and of course a high quality 4" aspheric lens for distortion free viewing. This is a part of our new range aimed at the professional user, who is looking for a superior build quality, and distortion free lenses, powered by a 12watt daylight 6500k lamp which is sealed in for health, safety, and hygene, making these lamps suitable for medical use.

I use this lamp for painting faces on tiny ball-jointed dolls . It is perfect for this purpose!
The lamp is flexible enough that I can angle the head in a way that allows me to hold a head up to the light, and use a paintbrush, without the lamp getting in the way. The light is very bright - I can work at night with it. It is also the right colour temperature, so I can paint with "true colour". A regular lamp makes the light too yellow so it's difficult to get accurate colours - so this lamp is a savior! It doesn't produce much heat, so I can work with my hands very closely to the light. This also means it is safe to use with my dolls, as resin can sometimes soften with heat. The magnifying lens really IS distortion free! (Though there is a tiny circle for even stronger magnification which isn't distortion free - but I don't use it anyway!) I actually didn't think I would use the lens much, but now that I have it, I absolutely love it!! And the other bonus is that when I finish my work, I can take great pictures too! The light is perfect for it! I contacted the seller and was told the lightbulb is replaceable - so don't let the "sealed in" bit put you off!
To summarise:
- flexible positioning
- bright light suitable for nighttime work
- true colour representation
- hardly any heat = safe for use
- great distortion-free magnification
- great for photographs of your craftwork
- replaceable light bulb
The only thing that is left for me to see is how many hours the light will last. I will probably write a follow-up review a couple of months down the line.

Bought this for my wife as she makes her own cards and needs better lighting at the desk. It suits the purpose very well and, being wired directly into the mains, doesn't need a transformer to be switched off when not in use. The light is good and strong enough and the angled arm means it can be kept out of the way of the work piece, with a universal socket head to get best position. And the large magnifier helps precision working. It looks quite elegant too. Very pleased with it and would recommend.

I bought this lamp when I had problems with cataracts and my sight wasn't very good. It did the trick, and allowed me to continue modelling until I had my operation. I still use it when modelling and find the magnification very helpful when repairing small items. The daylight bulb has made such a difference to my modelling experience. There is no eyestrain and small parts and colours are very easy to see.

Good Lamp - bad after service
I purchased my lamp (with a lens 5.5"x4")from this company March 2012. On receipt it was obvious it had been repacked and the lamp had a shop soiled look about it. Read more

Magnifying work lamp
This is an excellent product, very sturdy - unlike the Maplin equivalent that simply could not support itself. I hope that the lamp lasts because I use it for hours each day.
