Ok, so I was just browsing recommended videos from Amazon and this popped up so I thought: hey, why not give it a try?! For a start Kat Dennings is a brilliant, witty actress and I thought it would be interesting to see her on-screen chemistry with Josh Lucus (also a great actor).
I have to say, this is not your typical 'teen' movie - if you were expecting Mean Girls then you should probably look else where. Yes, the story is set in a high-school environment but the issues covered run much deeper.
This film has the wit of 'Juno', the isolation of 'Thirteen', the obscureness of 'Kaboom', but with its unique thriller-edge. Also, the story line wasn't really predictable, so the last half an hour I was really in suspense.
Altogether, definitely worth a watch! It's a thoughtful movie and nice if you want to escape from your own reality and problems for an hour or two!

A modern, cult-like TV styled movie about a teenage girl. ?? is the lead, a questionable and unlike-able force, who begins a love affair triangle with a teacher and fellow student. All this happens oddly whilst a serial killer is on the loose, in the countryside backdrop of rural America.
I found it rather slow, dull, contrived and with a main lead who fails to captivate or titilate like the idea should. It attempts to be clever and incisive but I would argue it simply isn't. A teen film, with teens, for teens.

Daydream Nation probably hasn't been seen by many people but it should because its simply a class little film. The story centres around Kat Dennings character who has just moved to a little hick town in America and sets her sights on Josh Lucas' teacher character. Reese Thompson last seen in the undervalued and rarely seen Assassination of a High School President is once again brilliant in this little corker of a film. Andie Mc Dowell is also in it, I mean its been a while since I seen her on screen, worth seeing it for her alone. But forget about performances, films are about entertainment and boy does this entertain. I can't recommend this film enough.
