We got this book for our 3 year old son at Christmas and it's been a great success, along with two other Richard Scarry books - Day at the airport & Day at the firestation. There's lots going on in the story & the pictures to keep him entertained. There's great humour too. These books have been asked for night after night. The book size and weight is great too, easy for children to hold and light as a feather.

Small format, paper cover so won't last as long as the hard-back version but story and pictures are terrific and enthrall youngsters like all Richard Scarry Books. My three year old was enthralled.

What a brilliant little book! My son four, "reads", it to his teddy at night and will sit for ages looking at the pictures. Richard Scarry books bring joy and laughter and his illustrations are wonderful.

Our 2 and a half-year old can't get enough of Sergeant Murphy's adventures! It was an instant hit and has remained number 1 in the bedtime stories chart ever since. There's lots going on in the story and the illustrations are detailed enough to generate lots of questions and comments from the avid listener. From the parent's point of view, such asides tend to break the monotony of it being read daily, which is much appreciated!

Having remembered these as a kid I got them to show my son and daughter and it turns out that they love them too. There's always a lot to look at in a Richard Scarry book and these are short enough and full enough to be a descent bedtime story.
