Product Description

Mitchell Parker lies dead on a morgue slab. In life, Mitchell served the low ranks of debt collectors, surrounded by all of the filth and scum that the world had to offer. He thought his luck was in when on a routine collection he stumbles across 100,000 cash hidden in the flat of one of his clients a deadly mistake which could cost him his life.

A dark and haunted past hangs over Mitchell s head, and one that will ultimately lead him on a journey of murder, redemption and sacrifice. Hunted by a ruthless gang for the stolen money, he must evade capture and rid himself of his demons once and for all.

Description

Written & Directed by Darren Ward, 'A Day of Violence' is undoubtedly one of the most uncompromising & gritty features to emerge from the UK in 25 years.

Influenced by British & Italian violent crime thrillers of the 70s, and with parallels to 'The Long Good Friday', and Lucio Fulci's 'The Smuggler' (Luca il Contrabbandiere) it weaves a dark tale of violence, life and death in the underworld.

Featuring infamous Italian horror icon & star of some of the most notorious Italian horror classics ever unleashed (House on the Edge of the Park, Cannibal Apocalypse & Cannibal Ferox) - Giovanni Lombardo Radice (John Morghen)

Searing with force, and charged with unflinching horror - A DAY OF VIOLENCE is HERE!

It was a sheer coincidence that earlier in the day i watched Sudden Fury the film Darren Ward gave us in 1997. I loved that and i love this.
This film is a very violent gangster movie with a simple plot. 100 Grand has gone missing and the boss wants it back.
The special effects are great and look very realistic. There's tons of blood. Spectacular shoot outs very John Woo looking. Gore aplenty. But the star of the show is a guy having his private parts cut off with a pair of shears. Just thinking about it makes me wince.
The acting may not be brilliant but splatter fans will not be interested in that, will they?
I loved it like i've mentioned but i still prefer Sudden Fury but only just.
Extras are a 22 mins making of.

A Day of Violence 11 Nov 2010
Badly Written. Badly photographed. Badly acted. Badly directed. There is so much wrong with this film that is difficult to know where to begin. Yes, it was shot with a micro budget - but as other better films have shown that doesn't mean the film has to bad. Unless your on a mission to watch every film ever made avoid. And even if you are on such a mission this is the one to leave until last.

Well, the actings not going to win any awards, the most convincing roles was a West Country wideboy named Danny and a faux-sicilian mockney named Fabrizio. If you can get over that and the weak (as expected) storyline, evrything else is fantastic. The FX and makeup put any Hollywood blockbuster to shame and after watching this I am glad this is how the director and the production crew chose to spend the budget, good work lads, definately the most brutal film I've seen this year!!!

A Wasted Day (of Violence)
If you want to see the sweatiest, longest and most grotesque sex scene in the history of cinema, then this film is for you! But be warned, it will put you off haggis for life. Read more

dreadful..those who gave positive reviews should be ashamed
A day of violence has nothing going for it. There is no script or story, none of the so-called actors have the faintest shred of talent. Read more

A great low budget gangster film
I attended the premier of this film over a year ago and am glad to see it has finally made it to DVD. I went in with low expectations and was very pleasantly surprised. Read more

Bigger, bolder, nastier.
Roughly 12 years after Darren Ward's damn fine feature debut "Sudden Fury" the director returned to feature film making with this hyper-violent, super gory, gangland thriller. Read more

Considering the budget brilliant
What can you say? I saw this at Fabfest. The film starts with a sex scene which to my mind is not quite in balance with what the film is. The main characters are very good. Read more

Good Film
Not a bad film for a fairly low budget Brit Flick. Have to review as my mate Chris Fosh is in it and he would not like me not to review it.
