Beautifully conceived and filmed, with such evocative music and dance that it will make you want to visit Cuba yourself. This film mixes up great Scottish humour, raw emotions, complex politics and history with romance and a palpable sense of what makes the real Cuba the place it is .... With it's darker side in addition to the stunning scenery and climate. Filmed on location in Cuba and with a smouldering Carlos Acosta and Eva Birthistle's gritty characterisation it is much more than just a one view feel good film - one to watch again and again.

I absolutely loved this movie! I saw it 3 times in the cinema and can't wait to see it again and again... the true test of a good film is how absorbing it is and how it engages you emotionally and I was hooked from the start, totally drawn in and carried along by the story and characters.
It's great to see two such strong female leading roles and credit should be given to the (female) writer Eirene Houston. The script is intelligent, original, authentic and very witty (there are some memorable one liners). Along with the beautiful cinematography she captures the true feel of Cuba, has a great insight into the complexities of life there, and manages to keep a light touch without being light weight. She also doesn't shy away from dealing with the darker side of things, and combines several different genres, giving this film substance and integrity. It's refreshing that the Cuban roles are not your usual Latino stereotypes and Carlos Acosta gives a great performance with a natural and engaging screen presence. There are some excellent dance scenes and wonderful soundtrack making it all in all a delight to watch.

This film is really great fun to watch. Funny, entertaining and touching, it's the story of two sisters who go on adventure together which ends up being more like an emotional journey. It's also beautifuly shot and will make you want to go to Cuba, as it looks stunning in this film. Not to mention the very handsome and charismatic Carlos Acosta in the male lead role :). So many reasons to watch this film. Brilliant!

This lovely film starts off in Scotland,
sisters meet up after some time apart to go to their dead fathers memorial party.
One, a gutsy political activist decides her fathers ashes shouldn't be turned in to a golf trophy and steals them with a romantic notion that they should be reunited with her mother on "The Day of the Flowers" a festival in Cuba! The other sister gives us some very funny moments as she is quite the oposite of her sister!
Clever one liners, some fantasic music and dancing make you feel you are there in tne the sexy steamy heat of Cuba, some touching moments some scary moments in fact every emotion is catered for!!
Carlos Acosta shows us he can act as well as he can dance and Eva Birthistle finds out that her parents lives where not quite the fairy tale she had invented for herself.
If you had never fancied Cuba as a holiday destination you will now!

Really enjoyed this film. Great portrayal of Cuba. The title would not have made me go and see this film as it does not give any indication that it's filmed in Cuba. I understand that there is a reason for the title, but you don't find that out till you see the film. Luckily my friends told me to watch it and I'm very glad I did. Would have loved to see a bit more dancing in it as I love the music and Carlos Acosta!
