I was unaware of this 2005 CD by Riders in the Sky, but I would have bought it had I known about it. For those who are unfamiliar with Riders of the Sky, think of a four man group which plays Western music. Not Country and Western, but Western like Gene Autrey and Roy Rogers.
This CD contains the music related to Walt Disney's Davy Crockett phenomenon of the mid-1950's plus some music written by the group's Doug Greene (Ranger Doug). As usual, they perform the music very well. Among the music is the theme song "Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier", as well as the Mike Fink theme. It also includes "Be Sure You're Right, and Then Go Ahead" which is credited to Fess Parker and Buddy Ebsen. Whether you view this music as well performed Western music, or nostalgia, it is worth having in your music collection.
It is worth noting that Davy Crockett, though known as an Indian-fighter, primarily lost his Congressional seat due to his opposition to Andrew Jackson's Indian Removal Act which took land from the Indian tribes in the South and forced them to move to Oklahoma. So, no longer a Congressman, Davy Crockett went to Texas to start over.
