In the days of GPS, it's pretty great to master a Sextant. With an artificial horizon, you can use your back yard to prove that you are positioning yourself with in 40 feet away of actual location. Then go anywhere and the Sextant will get you there and a GPS will verify your expertise. More fun than watching grass grow. Professional Sextants are in the thousands of dollars, but the
Davis Mark 25 will reach the exact same places for around a couple of hundred. You'll be the talk of all your friends. For sure.
