It started out as a tile word game much faster than Scrabble. You turn tiles over one by one and make words as they come up. You can snatch other people's words by adding letters to theirs and changing the meaning. At first one plays it by aquiring words. But later one realizes that studying other people's words and predicting which letters you should be looking out for to enlarge their words, turns out to be a better strategy. My 72 year old father in law is a demon but my 8 year old daughter plays it regularly that when I dip in, I am kept on my toes. It is a great family game, so easily portable. We always take it with us on holiday.

This is great fun and can be played with children down to any spelling age. The knack is to plan the amended / new word in your head in advance, and wait for the letters to appear ; then you'll be the first to snatch the word. You'll get the idea when you play. Educational - yes. Very quick to understand the rules - not at all complicated and good fun. Just make sure everyone can see all the words all the time!
