David Walden

David Walden (1942- ) grew up near the San Joaquin River (50 miles east of San Francisco) and graduated in mathematics from San Francisco State College. Out of college, Mr. Walden worked for three years at MIT Lincoln Laboratory and took graduate courses in computer science at MIT. He then moved to Bolt Beranek and Newman Inc. (BBN) where he was an original member of BBN's small ARPANET development team and made other contributions to the early development of the Internet. In 27 years at BBN, Mr. Walden served in a succession of positions -- as an engineer, technical manager, general manager, and quality officer. In this last capacity, he helped found the Center for Quality of Management (CQM).
