David Tipling is a freelance wildlife photographer with a passion for birds. Soon after returning from an eventful expedition camping on sea ice at an Emperor Penguin colony, David was voted one of the 10 most adventurous outdoor photographers in the world. His penguin images went on to win many awards including the documentary award for the European Nature Photographer of the Year.
David has enjoyed a long and close association with book publishing having been the author or commissioned photographer for more than 40 titles, He has collaborated with some of the UK's leading nature writers including Jonathan Elphick and Mark Cocker. It is with Mark that he is currently working on Birds & People the world's largest survey of cultural attitudes to birds worldwide. This six year project in association with BirdLife and Random House Publishers will result in a large format book to be published worldwide.
He resides with his family, Jayne and two children James and Charlotte. When not taking pictures and writing books, David relaxes by watching sport, cooking curries and playing the Didgeridoo!
