The case for this CD arrived in poor shape, with the CD rattling around inside. Fortunately no damage to what matters. A joyous CD, tremendous variety in song type and instrumentation, songs from tradititional (Milwaukee Blues) to self-penned (I can do it too). Beautiful clear, lovingly crafted production with the ability to discern every word. My personal favorites - Sittin' on top of the world; there are many recordings of this song but this is the most uplifting. I'm not a fan of spoken songs, but the words of Shakey Jake are so evocative of downtown city life - and it has a great twist! On the strength of this alone, David Holt deserves his grammy awards. Don't worry about Christmas shopping - just buy everyone this CD!
One final puzzle - what is the Cuckoo song about and where does the Jack of diamonds fit in - or am I being naive?
