I remember sitting at a friends house chilling when it was broadcasted originally, it was like nothing else being done by anybody, anywhere.

So many records on this album are jaw droppingly brilliant and the mixing is inspired. Simply the world is a better place as a result of this album. Buy it....its great.

This double cd of rare grooves and psychedelic trips may at times seem jumbled to the point of incoherence (witness: the 5 minute drum solo in the middle of disc 2!). However, this is Holmes' genius at work. The juxtaposition of big brass horns and purple-haze sitars creates an eclectic listening experience. You get the feeling that Holmes is peering over your shoulder going "Ooh, this is a great track!" and is hurriedly chucking records on the decks. He is sharing with us his favourite stuff, which is very different from his own work, yet has been undoubtedly influential in creating his dark, funky sound. Standout tracks include contributions from Rare Earth ('Celebration'), and Marlena Shaw, who sings the magnificent 'California Soul'. If this tune doesn't put a smile on your face, then you are a terminal depressive. Buy it, love it, force it on your friends.

GET THIS CD NOW! *The acid king* David Holmes has a perfect ear for finding obscure and über funky psych-soul numbers. Eventhough the transissions between the tracks aren't always that perfect, this mix cd has got to get a fiver! It's wicked as hell and you won't find anything like it elsewhere, except maybe on parts of his other stunning mix cd, "Come get it I got it". So go and get it, NOW! It's essential PSYCHEDELICA.

The music in this mix represents the most original, eclectic and psychedelic DJ around at his finest. With all these 'superstar DJs' around at the moment it seems bizzare that David Holmes has been largely ignored. His talent eclipses his contempories and he also makes proper albums that demand to be listened to from start to finish. Let's Get Killed mixes trippy beats with sounds from the streets of New York and Bow Down To The Exit Sign is so viceral and dark that it's being made into a film. But, if you have any taste, you'll have these already, listen to this one.
