Hockney obviously adores his dogs and can capture their character and mood with ease. Each painting offers the viewer an insight into the busy life of a loved dog and the endless positions that can be encountered in one sleep!

If you love David Hockney's work and are a dog lover too, then I thoroughly recommend this book. His love for his dogs clearly comes through in the way he manages to portray his dachsunds characters both in the paintings and the drawings. He apparently had canvases positioned around his home next to the places where his dogs slept, because as I'm sure most people who've tried to paint their beloved pets would agree, it's very rare for a dog to stay still long enough to put pencil (or brush!) to paper!

This is a lovely book which is a must have for any daxi owner! Would have liked to have seen a bit more narrative in it and maybe a bit more info about his daxis - however every daxi owner will recognise the typical poses these pals of our get into and the "knowing looks" that all our daxis give us! Bless. My life just wouldnt be the same without a dachshund in it!

such a wonderful book...gorgeous paintings..so typically hockney. it makes you want to buy a dachshund immediately.a book to look at anytime and a 'keep forever'book. great buy.!
