5.0 out of 5 stars Review of David Cassidy Greatest Hits Live, 15 July 2006
By
This review is from: David Cassidy - Greatest Hits Live [DVD] (DVD)
I must say that buying the Greatest Hits DVD, was the best thing I did. It brought back a whole load of memories listening to all those songs, which I used to listen to when I was younger. All those songs sounded just as fresh as they did all those years ago. I enjoyed the acoustic version of I Think I Love You, in fact if I remember this version of the song was featured in the film The David Cassidy Story, and I'm not saying the original is not great but I do like the acoustic version of the song without all the rest of the instruments. This DVD is must for all David Cassidy fans who like me grew up listening to his music in the seventies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, Best DVD Ever!, 1 Aug 2006

David Cassisy Greatest Hits Live is an absolute must for any fans. His music and singing is just as great as it ever was. If you close your eyes you see David as he was in the 70's! After seeing David live in concert myself, I didn't expect this DVD to be as good as it is because it would be missing the atmosphere of being a part of an audience. However, if you are thinking this, forget it! Its fantastic.
David shakes hands with some of his audience while he sings and it is so natural. They are definately not only people in their 50's here. You see many young people who obviously know all his songs as they sing along with him, even a wee 11 year old girl he speaks to! He encourages the audience to sing with him, saying at the start of the concert it will be made into a DVD of the audience and himself. Definately not self centred. And so what if the audience are mainly in their late 40's or 50's. Arent the majority of David's fans now that age or coming up for it?!! However, don't think you have to be that age to purchase this DVD. It is for everyone who loves this type of music and songs. My 29 year old daughter loves it too.
Great interview at the end. Great DVD. Buy it and you'll love it! He sings all his old hits, I Think I love You, Cherish, Breaking Up Is hard To Do, Could It be Forever, and many more. His songs from his Partridge Family days, as well as his solo and newer songs. I could go on all day but away back to watch it yet again!

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 24 Aug 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: David Cassidy - Greatest Hits Live [DVD] (DVD)
I am not sure David Cassidy knows what he wants to be. His image is very odd - a weird stretched sort of face-lift gives him the look of an expressionless puppet - he spends most of the concert touching the outstretched hands of the (what look like) 50 year old women in the front row in an odd sort of parody of "teen idol getting old". He seems to want to relish his old hits - but his perfunctory backing band who look bored throughout the performance only add to an over-arching sense of half-heartedness of the whole show. The insincere and gilb "I'm not sure if this is my best concert ever but it's up there" and many similar comments add to your awareness that this is an entertainer of the "old school" - faking it big time. The best bit of the show is the acoustic set - Cassidy obviously really enjoys this bit - as he does the bits where he plays guitar - in particular the highlight of the concert (and his career) "Common Thief" which is a terrific song from his "Higher they Climb" album. It's a pity he didn't decide either to do a major "nostalgia trip" with costumes and videos and talking about his teen idol years or alternatively a proper "music I believe in" set with more committed arrangements and performances. This is just a half-hearted, half-baked show for the old fans trying to keep the faith - but failing. Even after all these years, David just didn't seem to have much stage-craft and most depressing of all...that face lift!...we're all getting older.. this concert is a reminder... nuff said
