More About the Author

With more than a million copies of his 100-plus books in print, David D. Busch is the world's #1 selling author of camera-specific guidebooks, and the originator of popular series like David Busch's Pro Secrets, David Busch's Quick Snap Guides, and David Busch's Guides to Digital SLR Photography.

His twelve hugely successful books for Nikon digital cameras are the top-selling guidebooks for their respective camera models. He has also written the most comprehensive and best-selling guides for many different models from Canon, Sony, Pentax, and other vendors.

Busch's dozens of other books devoted to digital photography include Digital SLR Cameras and Photography for Dummies, David Busch's Digital Infrared Pro Secrets and Mastering Digital SLR Photography. As a roving photojournalist for more than 20 years, he illustrated his books, magazine articles, and newspaper reports with award-winning images. Busch has operated his own commercial studio, suffocated in formal dress while shooting weddings-for-hire, and shot sports for a daily newspaper and upstate New York college.

The graduate of Kent State University in Ohio operated his own photo studio and was a principal in one of the largest public relations firms based in San Diego, California, working on press conferences, press kits, media tours, and sponsored photo trade magazine articles for clients including Eastman Kodak Company and Hewlett-Packard. Busch has published more than 2000 photography articles under his by-line in more than 100 different publications. His photos have appeared on the covers of magazines, and in both print and television advertising.

Busch has become one of the leading photojournalist/authors worldwide. He has had as many as five books appear simultaneously in the Amazon.com Top 25 Digital Photography Books, and when Michael Carr of About.com named the top five digital photography books for beginners, the #1 and #2 choices were his Digital Photography All-in-One Desk Reference for Dummies and Mastering Digital Photography.

Busch was a featured guest speaking on digital photography on Toronto's Breakfast Television show, has been a call-in guest for more than two dozen radio shows in major US markets, and his advice has been featured in the United States' National Public Radio's All Things Considered programme. His work has been translated into Arabic, Czech, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, Bulgarian, German, Italian, French, and other languages. Good book but most of it concerns Canons top of the range model . I own the 420ex mk11 version which is quite well covered but
I think maybe each model could have been covered in a seperate publication.

An Excellent Addition to My Canon Library 3 May 2013
By Lori Maloney - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I was really impressed with David Busch's Guide to Canon Flash Photography. I have been learning from Ed Verosky, co-author, for a number of years now and I've always appreciated his ability to explain things in an easy to follow manner - David's apparent approach and this guide are, happily, no different.

I, like many, have a love-hate relationship with my flash, but this guide helped me, and will help you, get things straight once and for all! Not only do Busch and Versoky lay out exactly how to operate your Canon flash model, but they also provide the reasoning behind why you might want to use different settings. If you are new to flash, this guide will give you a really good foundation for the when, why, and how to use flash.

What I especially appreciated was the ease with which you can find the answers to your questions with ease and confidence. The book is laid out in a comprehensive, intuitive fashion, which makes learning much more fun than sorting through the guide that comes with your flash, in font size 7 ;) !

I absolutely recommend this book to any Canon shooters who own Canon Speedlites or who hope to!

Comprehensive guide to canon flash 19 April 2013
By Cycle Guy - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I consider myself a semi-pro and found this book invaluable.

It has both conceptual information such as white balance, metering, and types of lighting and very detailed info on the canon speed light models from 270 ex to the new 600 ex.

Concludes with a nice section on wireless, indoor and outdoor flash photography.

Great all around book!

David Busch's Guide To Flash Photograpy 11 July 2013
By Mark R. Byrum - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I'm fairly new to digital photography. I was looking for a guide to flash photography that was easy to understand, and that would have a chapter on the Canon 600EX-RT flash and Canon ST-E3-RT transmitter. I bought a similar Canon flash guide written by a different author and found the guide written by David Busch and Ed Verosky to be more comprehensible although both are very good guides...

The Perfect Guide to Flash Photography 8 April 2013
By Lori Whalen - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I cannot tell you how wonderful this book is. Within the first chapter there was a wealth of information and an immediate understanding of my equipment. I have had several ah hah moments. David and Edward have written the complete "everything you wanted to know but didn't have any idea what you were missing" book on flash photography. Although this book was written with Canon equipment in mind, I think anyone who uses a flash can utilize the information within this book. It is concise and an easy to read guide to help you understand how to use the flash to suit your personal needs. It was written for both the artist trying to stretch his or her creativity, and the beginner trying to figure out the buttons. There is something for every photographer to learn and put to immediate use. I am so delighted, and now realize how much more creative I can be with this one tool that is mostly underused. We are taught that light is everything, so why not learn to understand how to utilize the flash. We all have them and they are either not understood and neglected or used poorly which makes the user despise them. I cannot thank you both enough for this guide. I am now the delighted owner of a flash that I will use so much more effectively.
