With more than a million copies of his 100-plus books in print, David D. Busch is the world's #1 selling author of camera-specific guidebooks, and the originator of popular series like David Busch's Pro Secrets, David Busch's Quick Snap Guides, and David Busch's Guides to Digital SLR Photography.

His twelve hugely successful books for Nikon digital cameras are the top-selling guidebooks for their respective camera models. He has also written the most comprehensive and best-selling guides for many different models from Canon, Sony, Pentax, and other vendors.

Busch's dozens of other books devoted to digital photography include Digital SLR Cameras and Photography for Dummies, David Busch's Digital Infrared Pro Secrets and Mastering Digital SLR Photography. As a roving photojournalist for more than 20 years, he illustrated his books, magazine articles, and newspaper reports with award-winning images. Busch has operated his own commercial studio, suffocated in formal dress while shooting weddings-for-hire, and shot sports for a daily newspaper and upstate New York college.

The graduate of Kent State University in Ohio operated his own photo studio and was a principal in one of the largest public relations firms based in San Diego, California, working on press conferences, press kits, media tours, and sponsored photo trade magazine articles for clients including Eastman Kodak Company and Hewlett-Packard. Busch has published more than 2000 photography articles under his by-line in more than 100 different publications. His photos have appeared on the covers of magazines, and in both print and television advertising.

Busch has become one of the leading photojournalist/authors worldwide. He has had as many as five books appear simultaneously in the Amazon.com Top 25 Digital Photography Books, and when Michael Carr of About.com named the top five digital photography books for beginners, the #1 and #2 choices were his Digital Photography All-in-One Desk Reference for Dummies and Mastering Digital Photography.

Busch was a featured guest speaking on digital photography on Toronto's Breakfast Television show, has been a call-in guest for more than two dozen radio shows in major US markets, and his advice has been featured in the United States' National Public Radio's All Things Considered programme. His work has been translated into Arabic, Czech, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, Bulgarian, German, Italian, French, and other languages. Really good book for me, a novice photographer, wanting to get to grips with my new (and first) DSLR. Although the early chapters do repeat what's in the manufacturer's instruction booklet, the book is much easier to read and for revisiting the parts you need to refer back to. The latter chapters of the book make good use of comparative picture's to illustrate the points being made and differences between the various settings etc.

The whole book is written in a straight forward language/style and I found no problems understanding the concepts being introduced.

And finally, the best bit is that the whole book refers exactly to my camera as I've been so frustrated reading various other books and magazines which don't cover the Sony range very well, if at all.

Very worth while buy.David Busch's Sony Alpha DSLR-A390/A290 Guide to Digital Photography

This is worth every penny. Highly recommended for the beginner or someone like me retuning to photography in a digital age:-) The real joy is that everything refers to my camera(a390)and I don't need to keep looking at the manual to work out what to press.

Being new to Digital SLR camera's I thought it best I by a guide to help me on my way. I am so glad I did as this book is great. It covers everything the small destruction manual that Sony supply you with, however it goes into much greater detail and with better illustrations. This book is ideal for beginners as it doesn't bamboozle you with technical terms, and the ones it does use it explains clearly. If i can get my head round it then any one can! ;)
