More About the Author

With more than a million copies of his 100-plus books in print, David D. Busch is the world's #1 selling author of camera-specific guidebooks, and the originator of popular series like David Busch's Pro Secrets, David Busch's Quick Snap Guides, and David Busch's Guides to Digital SLR Photography.

His twelve hugely successful books for Nikon digital cameras are the top-selling guidebooks for their respective camera models. He has also written the most comprehensive and best-selling guides for many different models from Canon, Sony, Pentax, and other vendors.

Busch's dozens of other books devoted to digital photography include Digital SLR Cameras and Photography for Dummies, David Busch's Digital Infrared Pro Secrets and Mastering Digital SLR Photography. As a roving photojournalist for more than 20 years, he illustrated his books, magazine articles, and newspaper reports with award-winning images. Busch has operated his own commercial studio, suffocated in formal dress while shooting weddings-for-hire, and shot sports for a daily newspaper and upstate New York college.

The graduate of Kent State University in Ohio operated his own photo studio and was a principal in one of the largest public relations firms based in San Diego, California, working on press conferences, press kits, media tours, and sponsored photo trade magazine articles for clients including Eastman Kodak Company and Hewlett-Packard. Busch has published more than 2000 photography articles under his by-line in more than 100 different publications. His photos have appeared on the covers of magazines, and in both print and television advertising.

Busch has become one of the leading photojournalist/authors worldwide. He has had as many as five books appear simultaneously in the Amazon.com Top 25 Digital Photography Books, and when Michael Carr of About.com named the top five digital photography books for beginners, the #1 and #2 choices were his Digital Photography All-in-One Desk Reference for Dummies and Mastering Digital Photography.

Busch was a featured guest speaking on digital photography on Toronto's Breakfast Television show, has been a call-in guest for more than two dozen radio shows in major US markets, and his advice has been featured in the United States' National Public Radio's All Things Considered programme. His work has been translated into Arabic, Czech, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, Bulgarian, German, Italian, French, and other languages. This is a scaled down version of his book. The information appears to be key data from the manual and not what I wanted. I misunderstood this book to be a step by step guide which explained how to techniques, it's not, it just explains basic function. I wanted a book that explains if you use this setting with that filter on this exposure you get the stunning effect you desire, am I asking too much? I'm not an idiot, but if you are a complete beginner as I am you need a simplistic guide to help you on the way.

A well written guide easy to follow and use as a reference. Any problems I have had with my camera this guy has got it listed in one of the chapters. The book well laid out and easy to follow. David adds a little humour here and there to lighten the load a little. its not the sort of book to carry around with you on a shoot its too heavy so you need perhaps to make notes. Its a very good book and well worth reading in stages. It has helped me tremendously to understand the complexities of the Sony A77. Recommeneded
