This book claims to be The Stories behind the songs of David Bowie - well that's what it says on the cover. Unlike Steve Turner's excellent Beatles, stories behind the songs books, Chris Welch's book is merely his own observations and analyses of Bowie's songs. It's not especially perceptive or revealing and it's certainly not worth the price I paid.

If you have the book by Chris Welch called Changes -The Story behind Every David Bowie song dont buy this. It's the same book that came out in 1999 with no extra text or photos but reduced in size from about a4 to about a5. Poor value -even at a £5 and no value at all if you have the aforementioned earlier book.

This book was very interesting and showed a side of Bowie that is not usually seen. Thoroughly enjoyable read, stolen by my son-in law as he was impressed with this book.
