3.0 out of 5 stars Be Amazed 8 Feb 2005
It's nice to see this quirky little film again now with improved 5.1 surround sound. However, there is something quite disturbing as an extra on this DVD under the title `Pierrot in Turquoise or The Looking Glass Murders', in which Mr.Bowie appears as a cloud. This is jaw dropping stuff !!! It appeared on Grampian TV in 1970 and other than that appearance has only been seen on bootleg.
It is worth watching this DVD if only to see how David Bowie ever managed to make a career in the music business after this performance - Lindsey Kemp should be ashamed of himself.
Final point. The photo section is nothing to get excited about as most of them are stills from the films (including a live one from 1974/75 !!).
A disc of highs and lows.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ching-A-Ling 19 Mar 2010

A period piece and an ideal accompany meant to the recently released David Bowie Deluxe edition. These 9 Promotional films show and early David Bowie trying to establish a persona that would not really be fully realised until Ziggy Stardust. Of particular joy is the `Space Oddity' film all wires and David looking like an extra from `Play School'. The version of Space Oddity is the pre-Stylophone version which was not on the recent re-issue of the David Bowie album (available on Amazon.co.uk) the film transfer is pretty good. Ching-A-Ling also be a favourite.

Slightly more sinister is the `Looking glass murders' Bonus a half hour film made by Grampian (Scottish TV) way back in time when you could go to a regional TV station and ask for some money to make a film and they would give you it. The budget for this can not have been high and the acting is interesting as is the story. The transfer of this looks like a copy of a VHS video, only adding to the charm.

Overall I would recommend this for DB fans and if you have brought the deluxe edition of the first album you must get this

3.0 out of 5 stars Does not work in DVD player 28 Sep 2007
By krista_ brista - Published on Amazon.com
For some reason this DVD did not work in my DVD player. It didn't work in the 7 others I used either. But it does work on my laptop. It is a wicked silly DVD, especially when David Bowie is miming. Classic.

First of all, I am a true fan of Mr. Bowie. He never fails to amaze me in metamorphasizing his career. This DVD is a look into the twilight years of his brilliant reign as pop master. The songs are almost show tunes, but he always was dramatic. I, personally, think this is a must have for any Bowie enthusiast. Kind of baby Bowie.
