I bought this at the same time as Love Begins at 40, and I'm afraid that's the better book. There's perhaps twice as much info in it for starters, but above all, it's more positive. After reading Dating for Grownups I frankly felt a bit depressed. Most of the interviewees seem to have very negative attitudes, and while dating at any age can be fraught, it can also be fun and pleasurable. The overall feeling seemed to be, do it if you must, but don't expect anything and then you won't be disappointed. I also got fed up with the way they used non-indented paragraphs. I suspect they needed all those spaces in between paragraphs to pad out the material. Where it scored over the other book was in the interviews with some of the dating agency experts, and it covered some different areas such as social clubs. Overall though, I thought the author didn't have the same depth of experience or knowledge as the authors of Love Begins at 40, so if you're looking to buy one only, my vote would be for that one.

This book was really helpful. Dating again after a long break is scary and fraught with disappointment and this book was realistic about this, but ultimately uplifting and positive, with some great success stories. On the way it covered everything i wanted to know about, like Internet dating, singles holidays, speed dating and lots of other stuff. It also had a useful guide to date safety. The best thing was loads of quotes from other daters and from experts. Altogether i'd really recommend this book if you're starting to date again and need a confidence boost and some handy info and tips.
