1.0 out of 5 stars Freeloader warning 17 Dec. 2008
By Frosch
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I was most disappointed. My kids got a Wii console as a present from our friend in the US. They have been desperate for new games. The problem being that all the european games available in the UK will not play. I naively believed the information on the Amazon UK site regarding the freeloader. The picture of the product or the information on the page fails to show what is in the box. The version that I got is for the EU and it says so on the box cover! but the picture on line is of a region-less product. This kind of misinformation wasted my money and my time and worse, caused a great disappointment to my kids. Beware. The freeloader itself is region restricted, so the european zone freeloader WILL NOT PLAY on a US console.

1.0 out of 5 stars Freeloader Rendered Useless 18 Jun. 2008
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
If You upgrade the Wii firmware to the latest 3.3 update sent on June 18th then you Freeloader will be disabled.Either don't upgrade firmware or don't buy this. I bought mine a week ago and now can't get it to work due to upgrade. Beware!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Be Wary! 12 Jan. 2010
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I read all the reviews for this, checked my software version etc and thought I had covered all bases. I was sent a game from family in Canada for Christmas, so purchased freeloader to be able to play. I loaded it as it says in the instructions, and it did an upgrade load which I couldnt stop from happening. Now my Wii will not work at all. I have just spoken to a Wi repair plce and have been told that this will cost between £30 and £70 to fix depending on the "bricking" which is what has happened. Now I know the software people will not tak responsibility as there are warnings all over the instructions, BUT I couldn't cancel the upgrade, I had no option once I had inserted the game disc it just did it. In theory this is a great item, but I do wonder whther the new games have something in them which means the updates stop the machine working, wouldnt be hard for Nintendo to do this to stop people having multi region capabilities??????? I dont know, all I do know is that I am left with an unusable Wii, and it's now gonna cost me a fortune to be able to play anything on my console again! So as my title says - be wary!!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING 20 Jun. 2008
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Although I do not own this particular product, it is worth noting that the latest firmware update for the Nintendo Wii (3.3) has now disabled the use of this Freeloader. I was quite interested in getting one for the US version of No More Heroes but I will now have to wait until a new revision that actually works with updated Wii's is released.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Very Clear On Useage 29 Nov. 2010
By AP
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this product to use follwoing my son purchasing a game in the USA. The Product Details suggest you can play any game from abroad with using this Disc. However I have found that the disc does not work for reasons unknown to me and now I am out of pocket not only on the original game but this disc as well.

1.0 out of 5 stars November 2008 Purchased Wii Does Not Work 17 Dec. 2008
By Hammer
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
We just bought the Wii in November 2008 in London and some Wii games in the US while on vacation. The Freeloader does not work on this machine. We cannot play US games on the PAL version we bought. It is probably version 3.3 (the latest one) which will require a new release of Freeloader. Save yourself £10 and do not purchase until clearly marked that it will work with the November / Dec 08 release of Wii.

3.0 out of 5 stars It works...most of the times 29 Jan. 2009
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
My Wii is version 3.2. Freeloader works with 2 out of 3 games I bought in US. It does not work with "Obscure", no way to launch it. So, if you are purchasing Freeloader with the purpose to play Obscure simply don't do that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome 14 May 2008
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I got this so I could play my American import of "No More Heroes" for my wii.
It works perfectly, I highly recommend if you want games in Europe waaaaay before their release date, the games and postage are usually cheaper too.

This does NOT affect your wii at all. But it will not work with online games such as Super Smash Brothers Brawl because if you get the US version you cannot connect to the US servers. But for games like No More Heroes and Manhunt 2 it is ideal, plus it is only £10!
