This review is from: Datel Direct Data Max PS2 Memory Card Reader (PS3) (Accessory)
I recently upgraded from a PS2 to a PS3, but wanted to carry on playing FF12, so bought this device to transfer my game saves across. First time I plugged it in, the power light came on but the PS3 didn't detect my PS2 memory cards, I figured it must just be a duff product as I had read other reviews saying it was a waste of money. However, before I packed it up and sent it back, I tried it again and it worked perfectly, the only thing I did different was plug it in to the bottom USP port, previously I'd had it in one of the others. Now I don't know if it will only work in this one port, but it did and I've saved all the info from the PS2 cards (some data like setup info which is copy protected won't transfer, but all the actual game saves went across ok). I only had Sony PS2 8mb cards so I didn't need to use the PC based software to transfer off anything bigger.
Although the unit worked great in the end, there's not much support if you can't figure it out, unless you want to spend £1 a minute on a helpline to CodeJunkies, and the instruction leaflet is fairly basic.

the best reader out there.... even takes saves from your bigger and unofficial cards (with impressive software included ) aswel as the 8mb sony ones... far better than the snakebite one..... and keeps them on the old card aswel by copying the data not merely transferring it.... buy this ..... remember tho an official sony one that will transfer PS1 and PS2 saves will be out november (ish) time but will not word on big unofficial cards

Very useful piece of kit, even if you only use it once. Didn't work at first, so I was worried. Just fiddled with connection and it was fine... now I can carry on with FFXII and KH2....
