Product Description
Transfer Kit for Xbox 360 allows you to transfer data from your Xbox 360 memory cards to your PC. By using your PCs storage capacity to hold almost unlimited back-up images of your Xbox 360 memory cards, you can archive and restore them at any time you need never be short of save space again.
Back Up
Backing up your memory card couldnt be simpler. Using your Transfer Kit PC application and USB dock, you can save the entire contents of your XB360 memory card to your computers hard drive as an image file. Each image file automatically logs the time and date of backup, and you can add your own descriptions and file names, so you always know whats where.
Restore
Its just as simple to restore an image file to your memory card too. Again using the PC application, just click on the Hard Drive blade and youre shown a list of backed-up memory card images, replete with the date and time at which they were saved and the name and description entered when you backed up. Just plug in your USB dock and an XB360 memory card, and you can restore the image file to the card and use the saves in your console once more.
Online
When youve archived your memory card, you can email the backed-up image to your friends and share your saves with friends from all over the world. As long as the save or downloaded file is not locked to your own console or Xbox Live account, they can then use their own Transfer Kit to unpack it onto a memory card and use it themselves.

This might not be what you're looking for. It only works with memory _cards_, not hard drives, so if you're thinking of backing a small hard drive, such as the ones that were shipped with the early XBox 360, this isn't what you're looking for. Also bear in mind that while the manual refers to some content being locked to your console, this isn't exactly acurate: some content is locked to the hard drive/memory card it's created on. It can be used on a different console, provided that the same hard drive/memory card is used.

I brought this item via Amazon and there are two major faults which are not declared when buying.
1. The product only works with windows XP... There are no Vista drivers and none available on the internet.
2. My product did not work at all (this may just be a faulty device) but it kept saying memory card error... my xbox 360 reads and writes to the card without issue.
Another minor fault is that the CD is so firmly fixed into the packaging that you almost have to break the disk to get it out.
My advice is to avoid this product.

If you're looking for a data migration kit to transfer your saves/profiles from your old hard drive to a new one, DON'T BUY THIS. This product is for transferring data from a memory card to a PC. Something that is largely obsolete since the dashboard update that allows you to use a USB stick as a memory unit. Basically a misleading product page, hence the 1/5. Good but old
Used this to backup saves off my xbox for over a year, although now it is a bit un-needed since the update for usb storage devices to be used on the box.
