DVD Description
Claire and Phil Foster (Tina Fey and Steve Carell) are a typical suburban couple whose lives – including their weekly date nights of dinner and a movie – have become routine. To reignite the marital spark, they visit a trendy Manhattan bistro where a case of mistaken identity turns their evening into the ultimate date night-gone-awry. But as Claire and Phil take their unexpected walk on the wild side, they begin to remember what made them so special together.

I'd heard great things about this film, afterall it throws the a King and a Queen of American Comedy together. Personally i don't really like Steve Carell, he annoys me but in this film he actually came across as a really likable guy. Fey is on top form and is fantastic as ever. Both actors give it their all and there is chemistry between them, you can believe they are a couple.
The script is fantastic though admittedly there are afew lines that are meant to be funny but don't quite work. Thats just my view. The storyline; a couple is growing apart due to the pressure of daily life including kids and work. Determined to bring the spark back into their marriage they decide to go on a date but when they get to the restaurant they find it fully booked. When a couple who booked a table don't turn up Carell & Fey decide to take their place. It turns out that the couple whose identity they have stolen are wanted by criminals. I won't say too much more because i don't want to give away everything. Really though the story isn't the most important thing, its all about the laughs. My favourite parts: the escape in the slowest boat ever & the sex robots. If you want to laugh and cheer yourself up, if you want a easy to watch film which isn't demanding at all you can't do much better than this.

I didn't really know what to expect with this film but it was really good. Just thinking about some of the scenes brings a smile to my face. The delivery was within a few days and it was well packaged. Deffinitely worth a watch.

They keep the story going more or less but goodness me, Tina Fey and Steve Carell are much better than this. Ms Fey has won Emmys, Golden Globes, Screen Actors and Writers Guild awards. Mr Carell has also won a Globe plus loads of other awards. So where was there comedic judgement with this turkey? First part of the film feels like long sketches which is probably why there's a certain pace and genuinely engaging laughability about it because that's their forte; they're excellent TV comics mainly but the rather silly plot gradually descends into very weak farce. Low points: pole dance and rooftop non-shoot out. Extremely undemanding film which somehow attracted Ray Liotta and Mark Wahlberg out of their respective... er, slumber? The film is inoffensive and probably goes well with a mild curry or perhaps a large spicy pizza.
