I used it for my final year project with good success. It really interested me to read more about .NET CF development. I think its a good book for a beginner like myself.

I bought this book with no prior knowledge of SQL CE or Visual Studio. I have extensive SQL 2000 knowledge along with MS Access and VBA. This book teaches through example and it works for me. The only negative, and this is a warning to potential buyers not a fault of the book, is that it was written in 2003 and I have VS 2008 so had to apply a bit of logic to some of the examples that didn't work straight of the book - for me this helped me learn even more. Therefore 5 stars is what I have given as it's no fault of the author that he wrote it 5 years ago!

If you want to get into coding for .NET framework with CE SQL server this is prob the book for you. With good examples for VB.NET and C# (missed by other books) and a good grounding in CE SQL server.
The only downsides are: its is a bit thin (uses very large type) and couple of sections are useless ( mainly Appendix .NET framework class Lib, introduction). Add a disk and get more content and it'll get 5 stars.

This was easy to read infact 5 hours covered the whole book for me . For a beginner this is fine as it gets you up and running fast. Replcation and RDA was slapped into 2 small chapters at the end and I would have expected more on emphasis on these with examples , issues , problems etc... too much space taken with VB.NET.c# code put it on a CD .. maybe he felt the need to fill the pages.

I have extensive SQL 2000 knowledge but am moving into SQL Server CE, the book made the transition relatively simple. Prior to buying the book I had been reading the web but this book has it all in - wish I'd bought it earlier.
