I have been using my Drobo for about a month now and i am very pleased with it. The details within the Amazon page sum up the machine very well, and it really does what it says on the label, and is very easy to use.

I am a Mac user and the software works seamlessly with the Mac.

I am now storing all my multimedia files on the Drobo with the knowledge that it is all back up safely.

Well worth a look, and purchase!

Quite wonderful 15 Jan 2010

I've had it for 6 months. It does what it says on its (very heavyweight) tin. It is now telling me that it needs a larger capacity disk.
It is not cheap but to have all my stuff out there in its big black box is great.

Downsides: yes it could be quieter but it's only a hum in "F". It's rather heavy (and it doesn't like being carried around). It would be better with:

* Firewire 800 (I have an old version but the newer ones have it)
* cheap 2TB SATA drives.

Would I buy another one? I just did: a Drobo S. I'll be selling this one as soon as I've transferred the data.

This should state more clearly if it is the USB 2.0 only version (previous) or the one with firewire 800 and USB 2.0. I have had my version 2.0 for about a month and while I don't' think it's as easy to use as the manufactures make out, once you understand its quirks and have resolved them it is a very useful piece of kit.
