Book Description

20 April 2012
Dashing Druid continues Lyn Horner's unique Texas Druids saga. This sensual western romance stars Tye Devlin, the eldest of three psychically gifted siblings. Descended from legendary Irish Druids, Tye is an empath in modern terms. Assailed by emotions from everyone around him, he has learned to block out most of the "racket" in order to save his sanity. Yet, when he meets Texas cowgirl Lil Crawford, he has no defense against her hidden pain, for it echoes his own sorrows. Wounded by love, Lil sees herself as an old maid. She guards her bruised heart behind a tough shell, working alongside her father's cowhands. When a handsome stranger with an Irish brogue calls her beautiful, she thinks he's mocking her, but she secretly wishes such a man might truly want her. Feuding families stand between the two, and a perilous cattle drive pits Tye and Lil against menacing foes. Along the way they must fight their personal demons. Can Tye lasso Lil's troubled heart? And will his gift prove to be a curse or a blessing?

More About the Author

Lyn Horner resides in Texas with her husband and an ever-changing band of cantankerous, beloved cats. Trained in the visual arts, Lyn first worked as a fashion illustrator and later as an art instructor for Art Instruction Schools (famous for their "Draw Me" heads.) After quitting work to raise her children, she took up writing as a creative outlet. This hobby grew into a love of historical research and the crafting of passionate romances based on that research.

The author says, "Writing a book is much like putting together a really big jigsaw puzzle. It requires endless patience and stubborn determination to see your ideas come to life. Once hooked on the process, you're forever addicted."

A member of Romance Writers of America and Celtic Hearts Romance Writers, Lyn is a former vice president of North Texas Romance Writers. In November 2010, Lyn launched DARLIN' DRUID and has recently released DASHING DRUID, the second book in her TEXAS DRUIDS trilogy. These epic western romances feature a trio of uniquely gifted siblings. Descended from legendary Irish Druids, each possesses a special psychic power that influences their lives. The author knows such powers truly exists, having experienced prophetic dreams herself.

Lyn has also published a memoir titled SIX CATS IN MY KITCHEN. Six special cats are the headline-grabbing stars, but the book also touches upon subjects such as grieving the loss of loved ones, living with a disability, and coping with major life changes. It's liberally illustrated with photos.

The author says, "Writing a book is much like putting together a really big jigsaw puzzle. It requires endless patience and stubborn determination to see your ideas come to life, and once hooked on the process, you're forever addicted." A member of Romance Writers of America, Yellow Rose Romance Writers, and Celtic Hearts Romance Writers, Horner is the author of DARLIN’ DRUID, the award winning first book in her Texas Druids trilogy. This western saga features three uniquely gifted siblings, descendents of ancient Irish Druids. DASHING DRUID, book two in the series, is now available, and the third book is "under construction". In addition, a novella titled WHITE WITCH serves as a prelude to the trilogy. Currently available exclusively on amazon.com, this work of historical fiction depicts the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, as seen through the eyes of a clairvoyant young woman who “saw” the catastrophic fire weeks before the first spark ignited. The author knows such a psychic power truly exists, having experienced prophetic dreams herself. Horner has also published a memoir titled SIX CATS IN MY KITCHEN. 5.0 out of 5 stars Dashing Druid 9 Jun 2012
By BigAl
Format:Kindle Edition
I enjoyed Darlin' Druid, the first book of this series. Its combination of a solid western romance storyline with a unique twist on the formula, provided by the infusion of a significant amount of the supernatural, was a fun read that was very different. Dashin' Druid continues the story, this time focusing on Tye Devlin, the brother of the heroine in the first book, and the romance that kindles between him and a neighbor who has a history with his new brother-in-law.

For much of this book, the supernatural aspect of the series felt almost absent; mentioned, but low key and insignificant to the plot. However, the sexual tension between the hero and heroine was so strong that throwing in too much of the supernatural would have felt like overkill. During the later part of the book, the supernatural talents of the Devlin family come more to the fore, as tension of all types increases.

In the final analysis, I enjoyed this book even more than the first. I suspect part of that is that I (and I'm guessing most people) are able to become engrossed in a book easier and quicker if they have already "established a relationship" with the characters by reading and liking a prior book in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dashing Druid - A Fantastic Read! 4 Dec 2011
By Carra Copelin - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Lyn Horner does a phenominal job of accurately portraying life in the old West.

Lil Crawford is a wonderfully independent Texas woman who hasn't the slightest inkling of how beautiful she truly is. She longs to be loved by a man who will respect her and work alongside her in day-to-day ranch life.

Tye Devlin is a strong, delicious Irishman possessing a wee bit of the devilish rogue. He isn't looking for a woman to love, especially this woman, because he doesn't want to hurt another soul. The burden he carries from his past is enough; he knows he wouldn't survive another.

Together Lil and Tye struggle through the adversities of a dangerous cattledrive, feuding relatives, and their own personal issues to make this an exciting, edge-of-your-seat read.

Great second book in the series did not disappoint. The book continues the story of the Devlin siblings and their Druid gifts. Tye Devlin is an empath who is careful of who he touches; and blocks others emotions as much as possible He is very skilled at blocking others emotions also until he happens upon Lil Crawford on his way to visit his sister and brother in law in Texas. Lil is the first person in a long time to break through his barriers not only does he sense her anger but he also senses her pain deep pain. He can not help himself and finds himself drawn to Lil , though he is warned away from her by his brother in law and her family. Lil is not the only one with issues , Tye has his own,he has left mining and his dream of striking it rich, after living through a cave in , and the loss of a good friend leaving him guilt ridden. Story has some twist and turns but a romance develops.....

This Story is set in Texas in the mid 1800's, Druid powers, romance, gun fights ,rescues and love scenes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Charming Tale... 15 Mar 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Lily (Lil) Crawford considers herself an old maid that no one wants. She prefers to wear britches over wearing frilly dresses. She's a hard worker on her father's Double C Ranch. Lil despices how her family treats. Lil's world is about to change in ways she neither expects or can't ignore either. Tye Devlin, is of Irish descent, trying to escape his path by moving forward into the future. Tye also carries the gift of empathy and always knows what other's are feeling. Tye doesn't know whether to call it a gift or a curse. He seems to prefer the latter. When Tye meets Lil is stunned into near speechlessness. Tye asks for directions to his sister's home which Lil gives but is clearly hurt by him asking this. Tye is reunited with his sister Jessie but strangely his thoughts turn to Lil more often than not. Will Lil ever see herself as beautiful? Can Tye learn a new trade? What will Tye do about his attraction to Lil? Can Lil admit that Tye fascinates her? Your answers await you in Dashing Druid.

I really loved the concept of this book. I learned alot about cattle drives and what it takes to run one. I also appreciated the paranormal aspect of this book. I also appreciated the sense of history thru out the whole book. I look forward to my next reading experience with this author.
