Beautiful, wondeful music - But it's Mystical, not mythical,
By A Customer
This review is from: Das Sterben Ist Asthetisch Bun (Audio CD)
This CD is a recent purchase of mine and at the moment my favorite album. The music is enchanting - Beautiful Turkish melodies, great percussion and rhythm, and vibrant sound. All the musicians are excellent, and faruk plays about fifteen instruments, most notably the ney (which he is amazing on), kavala and zurna (woodwinds) and also oud and baglama, which he is also a virtuoso on. Other musicians are Brian Keane, who worked with faruk on many albums, Hassan Isikkut on kanun, and Ara Dinkjian who plays oud and also wrote some of the music.I would recommend this CD to anyone with an interest in turkish music, also to whoever likes such world music works as zakir hussain's india-west colloborations - this CD reminds me a lot of "Making Music" only with a turkish rather than an indian basis. Very beatiful work, highly recommended.
