Product Description

Product Description

Darwin made on eof the most important discoveries in all of science... In The Origin Of Species, however, it was not presented in neutral terms but as the highly misleading creation myth that Victorian England wanted to hear, His insight that all living things emanate from a single source would better have suggested the brotherhood of life, especially human life, rather than the competition and extermination that he emphasized. But not only this; the journal he kept on The Beagle reveals one of the most gifted and sensitive poets of nature ever to have written in English. Yet none of this made it into The Origin. Between the voyage and the book the vivid interior life of this wonderful man perished. The loss to religion, literature and humanity is incalculable.

Darwin's Error: The Poet Who Died
This book has an intriguing and inspirational new look at Darwin's Ascent of Man. Analysing Darwin's background and the social influences on him, Jackson discovers that Darwin loses his poetic inspiration and comes to conclusions to fit in with the political scene of the time rather than what his heart felt, especially when one considers his diaries and experience on the voyage he had with The Beagle.
