The book finds something of interest in each square mile of the National Park. Sometimes quirk - often just a poem, song or line drawing.
This book is lots of fun and always interesting (although in my haste to find out about the things I can actually experience with my senses I did find myself sometimes "saving" the poems for some later point in life).
I live on the edge of the moor, so this book is more about deepening my knowledge of a place I walk in all the time. As a result, I am not that interested in books which provide routes, details of transport, start/end points, places to stay and eat, etc.
This is not a guide book with routes and directions. It is a companion pointing out things you might otherwise miss.
If you are not local - still get this book! If your coming to Dartmoor for some great walking, it will help you get some feel for the place and plan your walking.
Not the sort of book you read page to page.
