Product Description

From the Back Cover

The most terrifying villain from Star Wars returns. His name is Darth Maul, lethal apprentice to and enforcer for the mysterious Darth Sidious, and this is his terrifying tale ... Set just before Star Wars Episode 1, Darth Maul sees the lethal Sith apprentice despatched into the heart of the ferocious criminal organization known as Black Sun. His task - to decimate and destabilize the group's stranglehold on the galactic black market - is impossible, the odds insurmountable, but Darth Maul is no ordinary assassin, and for the Sith there is just one credo ... kill or be killed.

Don't dare miss this key event in the Episode 1 storyline, one that reveals shocking secrets about the Sith.

Before he moves the Trade Federation against Naboo, Darth Sidius decides that there is a potential interference that must be dealt with in advance, the crime syndicate known as Black Sun. And so, the Sith Lord dispatches Darth Maul to kill the leaders of Black Sun. With the inevitability of death itself, Darth Maul descends on Black Sun.
Wow, what a great graphic novel! My son bought this book without me knowing, and boy am I glad that he did. It is non-stop action, with evil versus evil, and no quarter given or taken. There are many fascinating villains in this book, and even though there is not too much of a storyline, the level of action and the colorful baddies more than make up for that. Plus, I must mention that throughout the whole book, the illustrations are nothing short of excellent.
My son is something of a Darth Maul fan, and this book is definitely the kind of book he wanted to see. He enjoyed it, reading it twice before he allowed his loving father to even touch it! He recommends it to you, and so do I!

Despite being criminally under-used in the Phantom Menace, I still think Darth Maul is one of the best Star Wars characters ever!!!!
Now finally we get to see a little bit of his life before the film. The book shows some important events in Maul's life... his final training, a gift from Darth Sidious (The Sith Infiltrator) and his first mission, to infiltrate the Black Sun.
The book is short, with Maul as he is in the movie (quiet, not much to say) but its the action sequences that are the most impressive, as he leaps into action to complete an important mission for his master.
There are some smart bonusses in this book too, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan make brief cameos, as does Sidious. But the thing which makes this stand out over many graphic novels I've read is the artwork, they really capture Maul's appearance fantastically, making it easily the best of any Star Wars graphic novel out there!!!!

This is a short story. The art work is great. The story is great. I love how the events of this book are referred to in the novel Darth Plageius, and that this story is also a set up for the Dart Maul: Shadow Hunter novel.

Star Wars: Darth Maul is one of the best SW graphic novels I ever read.

The Story: Darth Sidious sends Darth Maul to take down Black Sun (big crime syndicate). It's basically Maul vs a lot of unfortunate people! I think you can guess what happens. It's quite a quick read because there is a lot of action.

The Good: Plenty of action. The artwork is good. You see Maul using his ship and other equipment we see in Episode 1. Obi-Wan and Qui-gon Jinn make a nice little cameo. The two Sith Lords are presented well, the dialogue between them is good.

The bad: A somewhat fast read because of all the combat scenes but this really isn't a big problem. The "enemy"; Black Sun are a bit rubbish should have been made to be tougher, scarier. That loses a star. That's it though.

If you like Darth Maul, and want to see him kick ass, buy this, I think you'll be very pleased.

This TPB contains the 4 issue limited series starring Darth Maul!!!
It takes place a short while before the events in
the Phantom Menace, and shows Maul's infiltration into Black Sun.
Of course his plans are very different than Black
Sun thinks.....
This book is drawn by Jan Duursema (she also drew x-factor for a while) and are simply astonishing!!!
The book contains a lot of actions sequences, so
you probably will read through it very fast,
but the tale never dissapoints!!!
I can really Recommend it!!
