Format:VHS Tape
I never saw the television series when it was first broadcast, but managed to see one episode when it was repeated some years later. I bought this boxed set to see if it was as good as I remembered. The first episode' "The Darling Buds of May" starts as it means to go on. The way in which the book has been interpreted is simply amazing. Even now, after seeing the video several times, I still have tears in my eyes when at the very end, Pop says that it was raining and he describes it as, "Soft as cobwebs." One of the best videos I have ever seen, I only wish it will come out of DVD - if it did, it would be all the excuse I need to buy a good quality DVD player. If you like nostalgia, a simple story well portrayed by brilliant actors and a good old-fashioned storyline, then go out and buy the whole three series - you will not be disappointed.

If you loved the first series you will love the second and is is most certanially a must have in your video collection. Its very funny, and the actors are super, buy this video

Format:DVD
This is a very "feelgood" compilation. Apart from the fact I was reminded of David Jason's versatility as an actor and the fact he takes on Pop Larkin as a second skin the whole DVD is extremely enjoyable. It's a great DVD to put on and get cosy with. It's not challenging in any way so it can simply wash all over you and there is no sex or violence although there is some romance and some minor sexual themes. It's light comedy with some serious themes threaded through it and has similarities with "Monarch of the Glen" and "Down to Earth" and the like.
After watching it a few times I only wish they had brought out another compilation. Catherine Zeta Jones fans won't be disappointed with this either!
