The Durlac extendable pole did exactly what I hoped. I Used it to retrieve apples from my apple tree. It was very easy to use and very light so I could reach and control even when fully extended.

At 5m max length this is a great help at reaching places that would otherwise be inaccessible.

The poles are locked at any extension just by twisting and so far this is proving to be reliable, holding well even when using a pull-cord pruner head.

What is not apparent in the description currently on Amazon is that this is a three-section pole. When retracted it is less than 2m long so it is very versatile in use and although it's quite a bit more expensive than the standard extending pole, if you don't mind the extra ½kg weight, you could use this one for everything.

The Darlac Giant Telescopic Pole is a very handy piece of equipment. I have used it very successfully in combination with the Darlac Traditional Pruning Saw for cutting back trees, with the cuts at above twice my height, all without using ladders or ropes.

The pole accepts a number of plug-in items - as well as a couple of saws, I also have a plug-in for cleaning the house windows.

The pole itself is fairly light, appears to be pretty strong (it flexes a bit, but not badly), and is well thought out - in particular, the little hook for connecting to the plug-ins so that if they become detached from the pole when in use, they do not fall onto you but end up dangling from the hook instead. Very useful when using saws above head-height.

You need to think carefully about safety if cutting trees above head height using a device such as this, but if you are going to use something like this then the Darlac pole is a good one to go for.

Recommended.
