Product Description

Folding arms with teeth for effective aeration. "T" handle for ease of use. Compost Aeration is essential for superior fertilizer production. This simple to operate tool pushes directly into the compost heap and as it is retracted the 'winged' blades open and create pockets inside the compost. This process will encourage micro-organisms and most efficiently break down all compost matter. Easy to use, with 2 handles instead of one, with less strain and not back breaking like forking from one compost heap to another.

A bit short 28 May 2009
This item is well made, but a bit shorter than I expected. It's 31" long, which is barely long enough to penetrate to the bottom of my compost heap. Would have helped to have some dimensions on the product page. Apart from that it seems to work fine. I didn't choose the CH Compost Aerator because the review stated it was flimsy, this model doesn't have that problem.

Muck mixer of my dreams! 10 April 2010
By K. Hall
One of the garden jobs I dread is turning over the compost, as I have a quite tall narrow plastic composter, which is sturdy and does a good job but its shape makes it difficult to aerate the contents. Usually I empty it out completely and then put the compost back in, which takes a whole afternoon. Or the other way is to use a garden fork which is not very easy at all and doesn't lift more than just the top 12inches or so.
This Darlac DP788 Aerator is extreemly good. You push it down several feet into the compost and give it 1/2 a turn then lift.....It brings stuff up to the surface from way down and loosens up the compost beautifully. You do need good arm muscles, but the job is done in 5 minutes! If you have a compost bin buy this, you wont regret it!

A bit disappointed 22 Jun 2010
By Gran
Cannot fault the company, delivery etc first class. A bit disappointed with the Aerator, it's well made, robust, but doesn't really work! It's hard to drive down into the compost, it needs turning 180 degrees to open out the 'lugs' and then often comes out again without disturbing/ turning the compost.

easy compost turning
Simple to use - just push down from the top and when you pull up it opens out and with a bit of a twirl job is done. Alot easier and less messy than a fork.

Darlac Compost Aerator
This gadget is brilliant for aerating compost in a bin; thrust it down into the compost, like a harpoon. Read more

Works well with Blackwall 330l bin
Very pleased with this. I was slightly concerned at the review saying that the handle needs to be shortened to fit into a standard compost bin. Read more

Not perfect but probably the best choice
I read the customer reviews on this before purchasing so I knew what to expect and I can confirm the handles are too wide and it would be better with a longer shaft. Read more

Compost aerator
I have been using the aerator for approx 2 weeks and so far it has worked very well. It seems sturdy enough to cope with general garden rubbish in my compost bin

Does the job
This was delivered promptly. It does the job well. It is a very good arm exercise.
Only critisism is it could be a bit longer.

Compost aerator
This is excellent. It is very easy to use and does the job of aerating the compost really well. At first I thought it would hard work to use it but it is really easy.
