This was the first book I read by this author and I have to say it is a gripping story and keeps you on the edge of your seat with some amazing plot twists and turns. I have since downloaded some more titles to my Kindle by the same author and look forward to reading them. Beware of a few typos, hence only four stars, but this is not the fault of the author and does not really detract from the story. Happy reading!

I'm always looking to find new authors to read but, because I read so often, I can be difficult to please. This is the first book I have read by J. Carson Black, but it will not be the last. I was swept away from the first page after an introduction that left me intrigued and amused. There were twists and turns throughout the whole book that kept things interesting without losing me. The character development was excellent. I originally chose the book because I had some time to do some light reading - I didn't put it down.

Loved it. Highly recommended reading.

Laura is called in to towns who do not have experienced homicide investigators to assist local law enforcement officers with difficult cases. In this novel she is concerned with a murderer who dresses up his victims and who seems to be attracting them via the Internet. Laura is also haunted by what happened to a friend of hers in her childhood and in the course of this investigation she has to face people from her past.

I thought that this book had a good beginning but in the end the plot was not particularly original. There were perhaps a few too many things happening and we got to learn a lot about a few characters involved in the initial investigation who weren't really a part of the rest of the book.

i enjoyed this well enough and would read others by the same author but there was nothing special about this book to make it stand out.

First time I've read this author and I was pleasantly pleased with their work! Good pace throughout and nice police procedural story.

Just a little disappointed with the predictable ending (once you've been told whodunit...) which left me a bit disappointed...

Well worth the sale price at present...

A good little read!

Straight away, I could easily relate to the main character, Laura Cardinal: A DPS investigator in a world full of men (some with hidden agendas!). As Laura looks into the death of a young girl, a frightening reality is brought to our attention - the fact that there are dangers and predators lurking on the Internet, grooming young children to play out their twisted fantasies. The skillful writing pulls you in immediately, and the plot will keep you guessing on a rollercoaster ride of twists and turns. An incredibly gripping thriller - can't wait to read the rest in the series!

I have to say this is the first novel I have read by this author and to say I was impressed is a gross understatement.

My first thoughts were move over Karen Rose J Carson Black has arrived.

Laura Cardinal works for the Arizona Department of Public Safety and is called in to investigate a teenager's murder. I'm not keen on telling plot details in reviews but be warned you won't see the ending coming.

Great characterisation and plot development throughout. Ms Carson Black you have a totally new fan.

Moving on to book two in the series with enthusiasm.
