    5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic 7 April 2011
    Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The 7th instalment of this amazing series and it doesn't fail to impress!
The hero of this novel is Amun, keeper of Secrets. For millennia he has lived with the secrets of others, every dark thought they hide, every evil impulse they mask, his demon finds them all and Amun must live with the burden. The emotional stress he endures carrying this heavy burden causes him to distance himself from others, remaining mute so as to save his friends from the knowledge he carries.

The female protagonist of this story is Haidee, a Hunter and enemy to the Lords. For years she has battled them, even killing one of Amun's best friends, Baden because of her hate and ignorance. As seen in the last book she has been captured by Strider to be brought back to the fortress for information, but she would rather die than help the lords. It's not like she hasn't died before. Weakened by the drugs Strider has kept her on she tried to escape which is when she finds Amun.

After his recent trip to hell, Amun has returned changed. Able to absorb the secrets of others, he has absorbed minor demons bringing them to the surface with him. Now he is plagued by their evil; fighting a losing battle to keep them contained within his body lest they descend on the world and spread their evil. His friends have tried everything and now a contingent of angels waits in the hallway, prepared to dispatch of the threat he poses if they cannot save him. Losing hope they are shocked when it proves that their enemy may hold the key to his salvation.

This book was fantastic and a definite must read. Amun made a great hero, sweet and deadly. Always the silent presence throughout the series it is easy to overlook him. Not anymore! Finally the most mysterious Lord has been given a voice, in a way.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome 1 April 2011
    Format:Kindle Edition
Absolutely loved it. Everytime I read a Lord of the Underworld book, I fall in love with different Lord. I didn't think I'd fall for Amun because he was always such a quiet, in the background character but it's the quiet ones you have to watch.
Amun is tortured by demons and secrets and it takes his enemy, Haidee, to soothe amd save him. The story was engaging, the characters were rich and deep and the romance was sizzling as usual. There were also moments where I laughed out loud especially when William and Strider are texting.
Can't wait for Strider's story in December.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lords of the Underworld: The Darkest Secret 14 April 2011
    Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I absolutely love the Lords of the Underworld books and have been eagerly awaiting this one since last year and it really does not disappoint. Gena has managed to write yet another excellent instalment in the series and I have been totally glued to the pages since starting to read the book a couple of days ago. For anyone who has maybe not read any of the Lords of the Underworld series then I would one hundred percent recommend them. Whilst obviously having the romance side to them they also have lots of action, humour and a brilliant concept idea for the back storyline from the author Gena Showalter.

The series is set around a group of twelve immortal warriors (and absolutely hunky ones at that!) who once served the Greek Gods. Zeus decided to give possession and protection of the dimOuniak to the immortal warrior Pandora (which is why the alternate name for it is Pandora's Box). The dimOuniak/Pandora's Box held all the evil of the world such as Violence, Death, Pain, Doubt, Wrath, Lies, Secrets, Defeat, Promiscuity, Disease, Misery and Disaster and all of their Demons were kept safely locked in the Box. Twelve of the other immortal warriors were upset that Zeus had entrusted the box to Pandora and not to them and therefore stole the box from her and subsequently released the demons into the world. Zeus was extremely angry over this betrayal and therefore cursed each of the warriors to hold one of the demons within each of them for all time.

This is the seventh book in the series and tells the story of Amun the keeper of the demon secrets. Amun does not speak aloud for fear that when he does his demon will spill all of the secrets it has learned thus harming his friends and he therefore communicates with the others using sign language.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Lords of the Underworld" series book 7 2 April 2011
By Book Addict TOP 500 REVIEWER
    Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Amun the silent "Keeper of Secrets" takes a lead role in the 7th instalment of this highly original and exciting fantasy romance series. Although Amun does not have the same kind of volatile relationship with his own demon as the other Lords; in fact "Secrets" is fairly placid throughout the story line, this doesn't in anyway diminish Amun's internal conflict. Normally his only compulsion is to never speak; as everyone's secrets would be revealed, yet following events in previous book "The Darkest Lie", Amun has a whole new set of problems, angels ready to take him out and a woman who has him questioning his loyalties.

Interestingly enough, another Lord is also very attracted to the next female about to rock the world and have her own world rocked by an immortal warrior. Haidee is a Hunter caught by one Lord but destined for another, and although (almost) human, she is responsible for the death of a Lord. Amun knows if push comes to shove that he must choose between his love for his friends and his love for Haidee; yet despite her past crimes (deemed unforgivable by the other Lords) Amun doesn't have an easy choice to make.

GS always produces an action packed, passion filled romance and "The Darkest Secret" is no exception. The verbal sparring, the fight scenes and the tongue in cheek humour make this book a fabulous read, plus the author produces yet another completely unexpected but brilliant ending. By the looks of things Paris (Promiscuity) and Strider (Defeat) will be soon facing their own unique relationship problems and I for one can't wait :)
