Amun the silent "Keeper of Secrets" takes a lead role in the 7th instalment of this highly original and exciting fantasy romance series. Although Amun does not have the same kind of volatile relationship with his own demon as the other Lords; in fact "Secrets" is fairly placid throughout the story line, this doesn't in anyway diminish Amun's internal conflict. Normally his only compulsion is to never speak; as everyone's secrets would be revealed, yet following events in previous book "The Darkest Lie", Amun has a whole new set of problems, angels ready to take him out and a woman who has him questioning his loyalties.
Interestingly enough, another Lord is also very attracted to the next female about to rock the world and have her own world rocked by an immortal warrior. Haidee is a Hunter caught by one Lord but destined for another, and although (almost) human, she is responsible for the death of a Lord. Amun knows if push comes to shove that he must choose between his love for his friends and his love for Haidee; yet despite her past crimes (deemed unforgivable by the other Lords) Amun doesn't have an easy choice to make.
GS always produces an action packed, passion filled romance and "The Darkest Secret" is no exception. The verbal sparring, the fight scenes and the tongue in cheek humour make this book a fabulous read, plus the author produces yet another completely unexpected but brilliant ending. By the looks of things Paris (Promiscuity) and Strider (Defeat) will be soon facing their own unique relationship problems and I for one can't wait :)
