Book Description

The body parts were first discovered in the bellies of sharks. Marine scientists in the Florida Keys insist sharks rarely dine on live humans, so there can be only one explanation: They were dead before they hit the water. Dr. Jessica Coran knows why.

They call him the "Night Crawler." And he's out there, riding the tides with his victims, feeding the waves after his own perverse hungers are satisfied.

But when similar murders surface in London, on the Thames River, Jessica faces double jeopardy. One killer? Or two...

(This book is fifth in Robert W. Walker's Instinct series. It was originally published in paperback.)

About the Author

New WORK this year - a record year for output as I have published here on Kindle in Feb. two titles: the 12th in my award-winning, highly acclaimed INSTINCT SERIES - The EDGE of INSTINCT (also bk.#5 in EDGE Series/combined ensemble casts, you see). In addition, to introduce new readers to my EIGHT separate series characters, I published a book of EIGHT short stories under title of THRILLER PARTY of 8 - The One That Got Away. Since two books put up in calendar year 2013 did not seem enough, I have now added in June a twisting, turning, churning, burning historical in the tradition of my Children of Salem meets Gone With The Wind entitled ANNIE'S WAR books #1 and #2 subtitled Love Amid the Ruins. Book #3 in this layered, complex pre-Civil War tale of the first home-grown terrorist attack on a US Armory in history, set in 1859 is through the eyes of the infamous John Brown? NO...through the eyes of his sexually active 17-year-old daughter. While it chronicles what happened at Harpers Ferry, Virginia, the dramatic novel is one foremost of love and romance at the forefront, and it devolves into a fierce gun battle. It reads like a western for good reason. If a fan of the recent Kevin Costner film on the Hatfields and the McCoys, this fits right in that ballpark...and in fact, I modeled my John Brown on Kostner's role as Devil Anse. The two men would have had a lot in common. Anse and Brown that is...not Costner. Book THREE of ANNIE's WAR will be published before end of June, so the entire trilogy, each at 2.99 will be available as will a hefty offering of the ENTIRE thee books in ONE kindle order for 5.99 - a real bargain. Counting Annie's Trilogy then in Calendar Year 2013 --so far-- I have completed and Kindled FIVE book-length works, Four being novels, One being Shorts, plus have shown up in three anthologies this year...and the year is only half over.

2.0 out of 5 stars Darkest Instinct 25 Sept. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I have read the three previous books in this series and could forgive the authors' occasional grammatical errors and spelling mistakes, but this book has random hyphenated words on every page which spoils the flow of the reading. Surely this should have been picked up on the proof reading unless it is something that has happened as a glich in the Kindle translation from the printed book.

I enjoyed this one and found it a real page turner. There were one or two formatting issues but overall these didn't spoil my enjoyment and I will be looking for more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterful!Unforgetable! 19 Oct. 1998
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I was introduced to Instincts series by reading Primal Intinct. I've become a bit impressed and didn't stop reading until I finish it. In his new thriller, Walker reached his glorious moment. An all-new history, exciting, full of adrenaline and suspense: Jessica and Eriq, chasing Patric-Tauman along the Pacific Ocean and Cayman Isles, in Caribe, passing through many troubles and difficult situations without giving it up. The final moments are simply "spicy", stunning, surprising. To increase the emotion of the moment, the return of James Parry and his helpful contribution to save his lover Jessica Coran. I'll never forget this book at all!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good stuff but a bit too long 31 Mar. 1998
By burtg@worldnet.att.net - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is my first experience with the "Instinct" series and I enjoyed it, although I was able to put it down. The plot was good but not enough development of the serial killer or his victims. Somewhat wordy but the plot moves along. Not as good as the series with Dr. Scarpetta. I will try some earlier books in this series and I would recommend it if you like FBI serial killer type books, although the M.E. aspect is somewhat weak.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!! 16 Feb. 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I was introduced to "instinct" books by reading "Fatal instinct" which took my breath away.It is a wonderful book with lots of details. Walker some how makes the book have more than one climax. He is an excellent writer and I recommend this book to anyone who likes serial killer books or is addicted to Walkers writing like me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Reading ease 28 July 2011
By Bill - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was not easy to read due to the excessive hyphenation. Words, names and places were hyphenated. Whoever reviewed the digitalization of this book and several others by the same author should be more careful. This is the only author that appears to have this problem.

3.0 out of 5 stars Goodish read...... 10 Mar. 2012
By shopper2010 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
The actual story was very interesting, but I just can't get into Jessica as a character. If you read my other reviews on this series you will see what makes me just not care about her. I suppose if you read this as a stand alone book you would enjoy it more. Perhaps if you love Jessica as a character you will really like it. For those people who are not crazy about Jessica as a character I don't think there is anything in this book to make you think any more/less of her. I would have really liked this book if it was another character and not part of this series.
