5.0 out of 5 stars Midnight Breed Series Book 10 24 Jan 2012
By Sarah (Feeling Fictional) TOP 100 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
It's no secret that I'm a massive fan of the Midnight Breed series, in fact I'm happy to say it's my favourite adult paranormal romance series! I'm always desperate to get my hands on the next installment and because I'm such a big fan I always have high expectations. Lara Adrian hasn't let me down yet and she always manages to make each book better than the last. Darker After Midnight is no exception and I can't begin to tell you how awesome this book actually is, in fact I'm still struggling to put into words just how much I loved it. Although this review won't contain spoilers for Darker After Midnight please note that this is book 10 in the series and it is impossible to write a review without mentioning events from previous books so you may not want to read further if you're not up to date with the series. If you're new to the series then I can't recommend it highly enough, although each book can probably be read as a stand alone I would highly recommend reading them in order starting with Kiss of Midnight.

The story picks up immediately after the ending of Deeper than Midnight, Chase has given himself up to the human police to allow the rest of the Warriors to escape from the compound with their mates. He is on the verge of blood lust but is trying to redeem himself after the trouble he has caused for his friends recently. Tavia is working for a senator who has just become Dragos' latest minion, she was a witness to Chase's attempt at assassinating Dragos and their paths cross again when she comes to the police station to identify him. It doesn't take long for Chase to discover that Tavia is not all that she seems and he quickly realises just how important she is for the future of the breed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Darker than midnight 28 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the first time I have written a review, however after reading this conclusion to the series I had to share with you that this book is a must read. I have been an avid follower of all the midnight breed series, and although I felt that by the 6 or 7th book , it was beginning to feel all a little to familiar, I would not have missed this for anything. This book had me glued from the beginning and I was thoroughly sucked into the tale of Chase and Travia. I was never a great fan of Chase , however after reading this book that has changed. There was lots going on that kept me hooked, and there was a good mix of the previous characters in this book that made the story more complete. I loved it and would recommend all of you to buy this book if you have read the rest of the series. I for one was not dissapointed and can only hope for more from this talented author as I would love to continue reading about the order and there adventures.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best One Yet 28 Jan 2012

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Its 1.15am and Ive just finished Darker After Midnight and had to stay up just a little longer to write a review.

I think its the best book yet, we finally come to and end of dragos's terror, Im not going to spoil it for everyone though and tell you everything. Just suffice to say this book was outstanding.

I loved Chase, wow what a breed.

The only think I think was missing just a tiny bit, was the romance between Tavia and Chase, it was there, but I just wished for more. At the start of the series a lot of the books are all about the females and their mates,(I think we get to see how they connect more), but now its about defeating dragos, so we dont get so much romance as we got in the beginning of the series. Saying all that though, the book in my opinion, doesnt deserve to be put down just for that fact. I couldnt put it down, and Im glad to say Ive been on Lara Adrian's website and there is a book 11 and 12 due out sometime in the future.

Lara Adrians books are definetly an auto buy for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best of the series. 26 Feb 2012
By fudggie girl TOP 1000 REVIEWER

Just finished this book and WOW!!What a fantastic story ,exciting, thrilling and by far the best of the series.I just knew Sterling Chase was going to give us a captivating story. The woman for Chase had to be more than beutiful, more than a breedmate and in Tavia Fairchild we have that woman.
There is so much going on in this book, every chapter brings us something new.Other reviewers have given an outline of the book so i won't add to it.You have to read it for yourselves. If you're a fan of The Midnight Breed books then be in no doubt you HAVE TO READ THIS.We are even introduced to another race much older than The Breed, who are they?I'm sure we'll see more of them in future books. This is not the end but the beginning.

I think the other reviewers have written enough synopsis for me to not have too.

I just finished reading it and it was without a doubt the darkest in the series so far, i loved that about it actually, that there was more action, blood guts gore etc, it was great to see mass fighting and butt kicking going on.

The biggest thing i loved about this book was that it wasnt just focused on the romance between chase and tavia, but that it included every single one of the breed too, and that is always something that seems to be scoundrelly lacking from many books these days, the inclusion of the other central characters.

Lara does this book and the series proud, and as i turned the final page after reading the epilogue at the united nations i was like what the hell is goig on and it wasn't until i researched it that i found out that the books are not in fact ending, but when you read the final words, there can be no doubt in your mind that this is a conclusion to the breed stories in their current format.

Every member is now paired off with mates and offspring, well most of them anyway, but i do believe that lara can in fact continue the stories but i would probably advance the stories a good few years into the future, by having chase and tavia search for the other gen one females that dragos has engineered, and also i think there may be a connection between mira and kellan considering the way he protects her and doesn't like it.

Also i would like to see how nathan grows up and i imagine a book set probably 15 years in the future where they stumble across one of the new gen one females and nathan falls hard, after having such a crappy life, he deserves an happier future.

Anyway that is just my take on it, im sure lara will come up with something equally amazing but please dont leave it so long, your books are amazing and i cant wait for the next one.

Lots of action as all of the loose ends are tied up. A fitting end to this series. If you are new to these books, you must start at the beginning.
