Another term at the Darke Academy and this time the coveted Academy is in Istanbul. An ancient and beautiful city but there is more than beauty to consider when you are with the Darke Academy...

At the end of the last book, we were left with Isabella choosing to be Cassie's life source and it seems at the start of the book that this arrangement seems to be perfect. However, as Cassie begins to settle at the Academy and into her role and status as one of the precious Few, Isabella and Cassie's relationaship becomes more than a little tenious. While Cassie is trying to deal with her newly found status, she still has broken spirit Estelle riling her up inside, her break up with Ranjit and trying to solve the mystery of who is hunting and targeting members of the Few to contend with. Phew!

Just when we think everything seems to be going alright, everything starts to slide, including at times, Cassie's self control and the weird powers she gained from the unfinished ceremony which brought her into the world of the Few.

In this book we have to deal heavily with the absence of two of my favourite characters from the last books; Ranjit and Jake. Ranjit seems as if he has made a mistake with splitting with Cassie and sets off on a mission to find a way for them to be together and Jake of course told us at the end of the last book that he was not returning to the Academy. So to be honest I felt this book lacked a little of the spark of the last two books. On the plus side Cassie's ever growing relationship with Richard seemed to progress and it provided something as an aside but it was nothing compared to the electricness of Cassie and Ranjit together in the previous book. I really look forward to see where this is taken, or if, in the next book.

After reading all of the other books in this series I thought that I would try out this one.

I loved the other books and thought that the storylines were always fun and easy to get into. This one was easy to get into but not much really happened in it if I'm completely honest. It could be the fact that when I purchased the other Darke Academy books - I got them for 2 for £5. I don't begrudge paying £4+ for it if it had been a strong enough storyline.

The story was okay - I cannot really see me reading it again. I think I'm done with this series after this book.

I love it because even though you might have forgot the second book story it had little bits and pieces to help you remember.
