Twelve years ago, a family reunion ended in tragedy. Now the Cameron family have mett up to spend the new year together and attempt to put the past behind them, but some ghosts just won't be laid to rest. This is a story of intrigue and betrayal. Fraught with tangled relationships and desires. Dark Is The Sky combines an easy-to-read style that quickly absorbs the reader, with vivid characters that leap off the page.

I'm not usually all that interested in stories billed as murder mysteries, so it's worth mentioning that while this book does contain a mystery revolving around a death, it is so much more than the usual formulaic "whodunit." Jessica Chambers excels at the ensemble cast, and this novel shines for it. She writes a family full of characters of all ages and temperaments, each hiding their own secrets and desires, all fully believable even when they clash with each other in destructive fashion. And the clashing sure does get destructive! I was gripped by both the sympathy for their sufferings and misunderstandings, and the burning need to find out what exactly happened on that tragic day that damaged the family so thoroughly. Intricately plotted, and written with a gorgeous sense of romance and setting, this book is a sure bet for those of us who grew up on darkly romantic stories like 'Rebecca'.

Chambers spins a "Dynasty" of a tale filled with betrayal, murder and light suspense. With a well-crafted class of characters, the author deftly develops the back-story while maintaining a climatic pace of the present. Chambers clearly understands how to incorporate trauma yet not dwell on the drama. Three and a half star novel.

With a gothic style and compelling characters, Dark Is The Sky will keep you up way past your bedtime.

I love mysteries and the author has crafted a brilliant and twisted story of family tragedy and secrets all leading up to discovering the truth behind the events of the life-altering family reunion so long ago. All of the characters come to life with their own faults and deadly secrets. The interactions between the characters are devastating and tempestuous. Beautifully written and well-detailed Dark Is The Sky is a book you recommend to your friends.
