I you have read the gunslinger born and the long road home you really arent going to be suprised but what you are getting with this. Another great tale set in gilead, this time going back to some of the interesting events of 'wizard and glass' such as maerlyns grapefruit and the affair between rolands mother and martin broadcloak. I felt a bit dissapointed by the long road home but treachery has brought the series back up to standard.

The artwork is up to its usual perfection,if you like the style then it cant be faulted at all. Dialogue is getting better, although it still kick the arse off most graphic novels even if its only on its third book.

Marvel have really done well with this one. Another must for dark tower fans and graphic novel fans alike.

This series has been weird so far. The first book, Gunslinger Born, was a total mess, saved by it's art and world. The second, The Long Road Home was quite the opposite, it was magnificent, held back only by the fact that you must read Gunslinger to get any of it. This is the third, and not a whole lot happens throughout, but it's clear this is the calm before the storm. This pacing, in the overall arc of the 5 books, is much needed. To watch all the things that will lead to the conclusion of the final 2 books is important, it just doesn't make for a great collected volume. I give it 4 stars more for it's narrative competence, art, and importance within the overall series.

A new character is introduced here, but not really given any real role so far, but she is interesting, and I look forward to seeing how much further it goes. It's all a whole lot of gloomy plotting and much needed character growth, which will all serve to make the next 2 books something truly special. Hopefully, at least. At this point, I have almost complete faith in Robin Furth and Peter David to conclude this series.

Having already read the Dark Tower novels, the graphic novels for me were very much about the artistic merit. It doesn't disappoint; the artwork is stunning. The storyline in this version leaves me feeling rather surreal and I'm glad I already know the general plot. I recommend the entire Dark Tower series. For me the excellence with the graphic novel is about the art; superb.

Having been a Dark Tower junkie for many a year I stayed clear of the graphic novels for a long time. Wow, have I missed out. They are stunning. The images really do Stephen Kings universes justice. Its a credit to a writer when he can plant the same image seed in my head as the Marvel team, the characters look how I pictured them. The story I'm not sure you'd follow so easy having not read the novels, however, they are a great addition to those who have. The books themselves, under the dust sleeves, are very tactile and beautifully bound. Top quality all round and its an honour to be given access to that world again. I have ordered the others and hopefully my local small town comic shop can order me in the new releases. I am kicking myself for holding back so long.
