Excellent hidden object game where you have to use your mouse to do a lot of the 'looking' for things. Reasonably tricky from the outset there's lots to do, rooms and levels to check out in a house and the extended grounds. As you're going along there are things to build and some games to add items to your inventory. The hidden objects can be a bit tricky with some being hidden. Graphics look good. I did get a bit bored with the background music as there's not much variety. 12 rating probably relates to the theme as there's reference to murder and ghosts rather than this being a more difficult game and this would be fine to play along as a family game. I got this plus the bonus completed in around 12 hours - but it could easily have been longer as I got quite absorbed in solving the various sections. As a bonus to the bonus game there's also a copy of the original short story to read. Black Cat follows on, but is an independent game, from Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poes Murders in the Rue Morgue (PC CD) and is in a similar style.

Fun:
I am always pleased when I purchase this type of pc game and find that the graphics are excellent. So many poor ones out there. Good storyline to the game and kept my interest throughout. Good twist at the end. You wouldn't be disappointed with this purchase.

Really enjoyed this game.
An engaging mix of hidden object and puzzles. Bright clear graphics and a reasonable storyline. Some entertaining twists; clicking on a chicken, it disappears then pops up suddenly from the bottom of the screen. The strategy guide is useful; I was stuck a couple of times and was able to find something I'd missed so I didn't spend hours going round in circles.
A great game if you like hiddn object games to while away an afternoon or two. Puzzles are sufficiently challenging to keep you at them, and not so difficult that you're tempted to skip all the time.
